I was just reading your profile and saw you drive a truck and bring your meals with you. My husband does the same thing but gets so tired of the same over and over. I'm wondering if you could share what you bring, maybe get some new ideas for him....

Hi Rckc. Well, I WAS a trucker, but I finally retired a little over two years ago. For years, I took my own chow, mostly because I'm cheap and didn't want to spend half my check on food. Especially truck stop food, which we all know is so good - ha. I LOVE chicken, so I would buy the thin sliced chicken breasts at Costco and grill up a week's worth on my day off. I used different seasonings on them to change things up. I'd cut them in slices so I could eat them while driving. My job was a two day run with a stay at a motel at the other end. I'd take other stuff to heat up in the nuker in my room. Then it was another sliced chicken breast on the way back. Along the way I'd stop in my fave truck stops for coffee, and usually get a small bag of pork rinds to munch. I have a small 12 volt cooler that held just enough stuff for each trip. Years ago when I was a local driver I pretty much did the same thing. Took my own food with me. I guess I've always been cheap - ha. Wifey was (and still is) a great help with all this. Now that we're retired, we STILL don't go out for food. We're both cheap . . .

Husband is a team driver with UPS and is either driving or sleeping. He doesn't like the greasies and fast foods on the road so he brings food also. Gone 5 days total with a few hours break at home in the middle. It just gets so BORING for him. They have a cooler and microwave but again, BORING! Guess it's just one of the downsides of being gone from home.....
