Gee, a "solid" 205.

I think I'm going to change that goal of 180. I'm not even aiming for 190. No, I'm going to aim for 200. Come spring this will not be a problem when we get out and do a LOT more walking, hiking, kayaking, bicycling, and a LOT less staying inside not moving as much. 180 - who am I kidding?

What's wrong with setting the goal you want?, Keep your goal of today and make steps along the way. If you stall for a few weeks, take a look and see what needs to change, you keep reevaluating, keep analyzing, and keep working. Pushing everything to the spring when you're more active is putting a lot of pressure on exercise to get you where you want to be, when ultimately you can't outrun a bad diet. Good luck.

I agree with Mahjohn. Why shoot lower that what you would like to see. As you get closer to any goal you can reassess.

I've had 180 as my goal for two years. Obviously I haven't been going "all out" to achieve that or I'd be there. It's not that spring will be a huge addition of exercise, but we DO do a lot more outdoor activity. I think my aging metabolism has more to do with this than my diet (which, if I do say so myself, is very healthy). We NEVER eat out. We 'do' the "slow food" thing by cooking everything from scratch - at home. Being retired helps us with this. Our garage is an entire gym. Whatever you can do at a membership gym, we can and do do at home. Weights, cardio, balance, we do it all. Under my somewhat bulging tummy there's a "six pack" that I can pose and make show - but it's on top of my belly. Ha . . . Part of my weight is muscle, but I'm not going to use that as an excuse. I'm too big around the middle. Pure and simple.

I sympathize with the lack of progress, but let me play 'Devil's Advocate' for a moment and say, just because something is made at home, doesn't mean its lower in calories. Just saying that maybe there are other things you need to adjust in your life since you are already active and struggling with your weight. I had the same type of epiphany as a school teacher on my feet all day and still gaining weight. I Adjusted my food and now the weight is coming off.
