kikikranx's Journal, 01 Dec 15

Made it thru day 2 of "no cookies at night". Made myself take a benadryl last night .. not because I was sneezing and not because my eyes were watery. I took the damn thing so I'd get sleepy in a hurry and crash out instead of stress out over NO COOKIES. I swear that giving up crack cocaine and cigarettes was easier than battling my sugar (chocolate chip cookie) addiction ... AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! LoL I feel like a choco-chip-oholic cookie addict ;-) I can see myself now .. i'll be standing on the side of a freeway with a sign that says "Will work for chips ahoy". (that's an exaggeration of course) .. but I am adding up the 2.99/day that I usually spend on cookies. That is $90/mo or $1080/yr -- not including milk. I could actually go on a mini vacay AND buy a cute bathing suit that I will probably actually fit into by then for that amount. LOL.. the thinKs that I think to keep me from thinKing about COOKIES! heh heh

I'm down from almost 235 to nearly 230 in just a couple of days .. I know that this is because my bloating from the excess sugar is going down so this is just water weight coming off. However, I did the break down on just one of my faves .. Pepperidge Farms Chesapeake Cookies (i.e. chocolate chip w/pecans) and found that I'm already saving myself AT LEAST 1040 calories/day by not eating a bag of these guys. I've gotta go get the nutrition facts off those walmart chocolate chippers so I can see how many calories I was actually eating there. I'm really not even worried about anything else that I eat ... cuz I know it's the cookie addiction that's got a whole other 90-lb-me tagging along for the ride :-)

Sugar lights up the same pleasure centers of the brain as cocaine and nicotine, making it addictive? quite possibly so. It takes a good 14-21 days to detox from excessive sugar. Headaches, chills, fever, ...all of these may be experienced, again leaning more to the side of sugar being addictive. Below is a new article posted with some good information for you to read... FYI...as you are heavy sugar dependant, it will take a while for you to flip from burning sugar for primary energy source to burning fat, once that happens, you'll be fine. https://medium.com/@davidludwigmd/your-brain-on-fast-acting-carbs-2130c7a08b98#.xd33gi3fl

Kiki I like that...giving up something. I'm not sure what I would give up though. I gave up caffeine awhile ago, I don't eat cookies... I suppose my downfall is bread. I love some bread with just about anything on it. I think I might give that up for a month and see what happens.

What Mahjohn said! If there was an AA for sugar addicts I would be there with bells on! I've been LCHF since the middle of July and the sugar cravings went away after the first couple of weeks. So did many of my aches and pains as sugar also causes inflammation in the body. EVIL stuff it is!! Ice cream is my favorite food on earth followed closely by cookies, cake, etc! My BGL is also way down which is a blessing as well.

Yup Skinnyminnie .. I've been giving up 1 thing at a time since 2005 .. that's when i gave up sodas .. then i gave up alcohol then some other choice recreational substances ..chips .. bread ... ... now it's milk and cookies and the cookies gotta go first lol .. PS .. add me .. i can't send more requests right now Thanx for the link Mahjohn .. will check it out LoL Rhontiquie .. i asked my doctor about an AA type of place for sugar addicts .. after he answered me i fired him .. haven't been to see him in over 2 years

The first step of any successful diet is to purge your kitchen of all the garbage -- cookies, sweets, crackers, ice cream, chips, etc. Donate all that stuff to a food bank. If it's not within easy reach, you won't be tempted.

agreed.....it's the same when kids are overweight and the parents say, "well they eat cereal....and pop tarts, and chips"....who buys the food? When you look around your house for easy to get to snacks, you should see Pistachios, Macadamia Nuts, Baby Bell cheese in the fridge, etc.. if you look around and see Cookies and Snack Pack's, it makes it very difficult to succeed. Think of an Alcoholic going to a Bar every day...eventually they will relapse and drink....now if that bar is a Starbucks Coffee Bar and the bartender is a barista, then they'll be set. The point is, setup your environment for success, not for failure.

hahaha .. about "purging the kitchen" .. I do NOT need to purge my kitchen. You'd wonder what I even eat if you went thru my kitchen. What someone needs to do is take my f'n keys and money cards/money away from me LoL cookies are 2 minutes or less away in any direction 24/7

One thing I'm certain of .. is that I have access to excess .. of anything that I could possibly want; so, it is my mission in life to learn moderation in ALL things.

Girl your hard core.... Have to drain your gas tank, flatten your tires..... Make you all for those cookies

I was the same way before going into ketosis and adapting. That's why keto saved my life! :)

LOL Mahjohn .. you don't even know ;-) .. and all that STILL wouldn't stop me .. I know cuz I've had my tires slashed before to keep me from doing something that I went and did anyway. And Jenny .. I agree .. I'm thinking LCHF/keto (which at this point I think are the same right?) are going to save my life too :-) Thank you all for your support. This site is alot more fun than that other one I signed up for way back when. It was like pulling eye teeth to make friends on there.

LCHF/Keto are very similar with one exception.... Ketosis is a state your body reaches from Extra-Low Carbs...while very good, it's not mandatory for successful weight/fat loss. LCHF promotes Low Carbs less than 50, but ideally less than 30gms per day), while also promoting high fat intake, it's the fat intake that separates it from a standard Atkins plan for example.

Mahjohn, Keto's suggested carbs intake is actually 20-60. Lots of people shoot for 20 because that's a sure way in, being that everyone is different. Have you read "New Atkins For A New You"? It also promotes high fat & ketosis, and has the same co-authors as the youtubes videos I shared in the Ketopia group.

20-60, I can see that as a good range. "New Atkins...." (but he's dead) :-) he's like Elvis, keeps on making it rain. I have the videos on my watch list. While my preference 6 days of the week is LCHF, one afternoon/evening is a high carb spike...pizza, pasta, donuts, cookies, beer. Mental break from dieting, night out for dinner etc.. I add about 2lbs in weight, but it's gone a few days later.....will watch the videos..promise.

Now, you see that's the difference between me and you. Telling me that I can have sugar once a week is like telling a crackhead they can smoke crack, but only once a week...lol. It's just not going to happen! :D

as someone that has never has a weight problem, that can work for me....for someone who has had a weight problem, it requires testing on an individual basis to determine how well they can succeed at once a week, without it being once a week....couple days a week, every other day...every day....ugh.

Right. Reguardless, I am so carb intolerant that I can gain 7lbs (looks like 15) with the one day you described.
