Ughh... How can I work so hard with so little result?! What's you alls thoughts on Ozempic? I really wanted to do it the natural route, but I see all my coworkers with the weight just falling off bc of these meds. Eating bags of M&Ms and dropping 30 pounds. It's insane. I only have 6 pounds left to goal, but honestly I could lose 10 and be fine too. I'm a shorty so that's why my weight has to be low to achieve a normal BMI. Thoughts?

Personally, I would not take any medication to loose weight, unless it was medically necessary. The side effects are not worth the risks to me. I also feel that my changed lifestyle beats any short term solution. Please understand this is my opinion only. I feel that everyone needs to make the decisions that reflect the life they want to live, based on what works for them. Blessings on your journey!

Thanks! That's exactly what I am looking for other people's thoughts/opinions on this. Since this is a weight based site, I figured I could collect all the thoughts/opinions on the subject before I make a decision. Initially a doctor did mention it to me, but I said I wanted to lose naturally and am down 18 pounds all on my own! But as I plateau closer to the finish line, I think maybe I should've take the dr up on the offer.

nope. nope nope nope nope nope. well, not for moi. I am type 2 diabetic. This product works by stimulating insulin secretion. That's just ridiculous in the context of a damaged pancreas, which is pretty much what's going on. To force a dying horse to run is to kill the horse. If you're well enough to use this ozempic that's cool, but I would investigate and research things like adrenal failure. What will happen to you if you overstimulate your pancreas? I don't know. And how does this create weight loss? I don't see how that works either. Needs far more investigation. Short term side effects might involve nausea, which is my no. 1 hated side effect... I just... nope. Also, I believe it lowers blood pressure so if your blood pressure is not high to start with you may find yourself fainting? I dunno. lots of questions. I foresee lots of googling in your future as you find out the mechanisms by which this works, and make your best choice based upon what you want to risk or benefit from it.

From what I have read diabetics are having trouble getting this med which they need because of doctor's prescribing this for weight loss. I do not approve.

I personally wouldn't take medicine to lose weight because I know when I follow my diet (which I am struggling with now) that the weight does come off.

may want to ask yourself if you did take it what would your plan be to keep the weight off if you didn't change your eating habits in order to lose the weight?

You're so close. Save the money and buy something special! otb123 has a great point!

Agree with otb. Additionally ozempic is used off label for weight loss intended for the obese with a secondary underlying condition. That does not apply to you. Don’t get too caught up in bmi. They are generic numbers that dont take into account muscle mass. Get an inbody. See where your bfp is (body fat percentage, not bmi). If you are six pounds away it’s very closes. Honestly, anyone taking a drug to eat m&ms and lose weight is not going to be successful long term.

Thanks y'all! Just the bit of perspective and support I needed. 💕

I have heard, you gain your weight back when you quit taking this medication. There have been no studies on the weight loss aspect that I know of. I would not risk my life on this medication although I am diabetic, adrenal insufficiency, pancreatitis just to name a few of these that my doctor has said nay to. Stay with the program. You are doing great. And are near your goal. God bless.

Not an expert but I think wegovy is the form of semaglutide that’s been approved for weight loss (there are drs that prescribe ozempic off-label but I had heard the wegovy dosing is different). Anyway I just wanted to say — it looks like you’re down 15 or 20 lbs since January. That’s a good rate of progress. It’ll never be as fast as one would like but objectively you’re doing well. I would recommend intentionally eating at maintenance for a bit if you’re burnt out, and making sure you get a lot of protein and fiber. Your coworkers that are taking a drug so that they can eat garbage are hurting themselves long-term. I have my ups & downs (and was intrigued lately about semaglutide myself) but a lot of this is patience & not overdoing it. Just my 2c.

ozempic? seriously? no one knows what will happen to people taking this drug in 10 years.

I am doing the old fashioned way also. it's not easy but, it's much healthier I think. keep doing what you feel is right. You got this!!!!!

Doesn't make sense for a doctor to prescribe Oz to a person 6lbs from goal. If you are interested in what Oz does and the wicked side effects join the Ozempic forum on Reddit. It is not the magic bullet that folk make it out to be although for some it most certainly is. I am considering talking to my doctor about it when I see him in June as what is making this weight loss journey so difficult is the constant food noise. Difference being, I still have more than 90 lbs to lose with a very high BMI. After a lifetime of struggling with weight, bariatric surgery was another option, but one that I really don't want to consider. I suppose, at the end of the day, whatever works. Your body. Your choice.

I just saw a segment on this in the news. Risky side effects, what’s new. But once you go off them weight comes back on unless you make a lifestyle change.

Don’t know much about oxempic but I personally would not take a drug to lose 6-10 lbs. you can get there on your own

I am on ozempic because I have type 2 diabetes. But I also need to lose weight. I had wls 10 years ago and have gained back 70 pounds:( But I wont be eating bags of candy and dropping pounds. Ozempic helps control your blood sugar and your appetite, but those work mate will gain back every pound once they are off ozempic.

Taking a weight loss drug doesn’t address the underlying issues that caused the fat gain in the first place. This process isn’t meant to be easy. It is work to replace bad habits with good ones. Don’t take the shortcut. Take an honest look at how many calories you are consuming and the quality of those calories. Make an honest assessment of the exercises you are doing. If you can’t lose the last six pounds without the help of a pill then how can you expect to maintain your goal weight once you reach it? Those people who are eating bags of candy while losing weight will 10000000% gain it back and more. This is a long term lifestyle change if you are thinking about it correctly. Don’t judge yourself against others. Judge yourself against yesterday’s version of you and always try to improve. You absolutely have the ability to do this! You got this!❤️

Bapzz, I’m not making a judgement on you taking ozempic. I’m aware of it’s use for treating diabetes. I want to make sure you knew that.❤️Taking it strictly for the purpose of losing a few pounds is lazy and will not bode for long term weight maintenance

Cheesegobbler, actually they absolutely will. Already been approved, just had decided not to do it. They have ways around all kinds of stuff. I'm a nurse, so I have that connection. But.... whether I would want to or not is another story! Plus like I said I really could lose 10-15 and not be underweight, but I kept my goal at bare minimum to have a BMI in normal range bc that felt like a more manageable goal. Again I love hearing everyone's opinions on this subject! You all are rockstars in my boom. Thank you for the inspiration to be nature... Definitely feel like it's the minority of people now! And also again if someone out there is doing this, feel free to speak up I'm here for all the opinions!
