Hipaagrammy's Journal, 12 Jan 15

Hello Monday ~

I'm back from vacation and facing reality...and reality is kinda sucky. I feel overwhelmed with stuff at home.

1. Grandson #1 was paid to check on our house, stay over night every few days so the house looked lived-in, and snow blow the driveway as necessary...came home to a sled caught in the snow blower, and complaints from other family members who came by and found the heat turned up to 80 and every dish in the house dirty. (When we got home the dishes were done and the house was normal temp.)
2. We paid DS#6 to tear out our old staircase to the lower level and put in a new one...we were gone for a month...it is less than 1/2 done. I can't get to my lower level! He is not a neat worker (knew that, that is why I wanted it done while I was gone) my house is in chaos.
3. We paid DIL#5 to come and take down our Christmas tree and all the Christmas decorations and put our house back in order before we returned. She didn't know how to take the tree apart and may have damaged it in her attempt. The Christmas decorations are all up because she couldn't get to the totes on the lower level to put them away (see #2). She is frustrated, and so am I.
4. We now have a leak in the guest bathroom shower.
5. We now have an electrical issue - the circuit breaker keeps going off for my refrigerator/microwave.
6. I thought I won The Great Mouse War of '14, but '15 has just begun.
7. The closing on the Reed City house never happened. Hopefully it will be officially sold soon, but it was supposed to be done on 12/11/14! Call me a pessimist, but this is the third buyer we've tried to close on that house...Will it EVER happen?! Until it is officially closed I need to drive 30 minutes each way every time it snows to snow blow the sidewalks and I should be checking the pipes with these very cold temps...I just want to be DONE with home maintenance...I'd move into a condo right now, but that would require a move and I just shudder to think of doing that again!

WHEW!
I feel tired, overwhelmed, and cranky...not the way I wanted to feel after a wonderful vacation.

ATF:
I did GREAT on vacation. I stayed with my lifestyle change very well considering it was all at restaurants and hotels. I exercised almost every day and found I'd really like an elliptical at home.

Since I've been home I've really struggled to stay on track.

This is the start of a new week. I plan to put in at least 40 minutes on my exercise bike each day and get back to my healthy eating and recording my foods.

For Monday a new mindset is my mission!

Aww, so sorry things were not done, house problems, and your property did not close. I'd be cranky too. I understand, for 2 years I kept being put on the bottom of the customer list to get some work done by a SIL. Gave up, hired some friends who work construction and don't get a lot if work in the winter. Costing me much more since not getting it done 2 years ago caused additional damage. At least it's getting done. Mice, yup, they just invaded my house too saw one in the kitchen, need to get the traps set, you are not alone. Sounds like you are getting back on your healthy track despite the stress, super job of exercising every day!!

Sorry to hear about all the problems you are facing, but it sounds like you are doing a great job of keeping your cool about it all. I wish I could loan you my cat, for a week or so; she'd clear your place of the mice in no time at all. I haven't seen a mouse around here in years; thank God!

Thanks for all the good thoughts. Not too much has changed on the home front, but I've taken a few days to adjust and all will be well in the end. It's great to have a place to share without making someone feel bad or worrying about me!
