Soooooooo, I'm having a bit of a "bi-polar" day.....

Here's my happy side.....I had ordered some of those jean-type leggings that a lot of you had recommended. LOVE them, seriously, so comfortable and super cute and I feel pretty in them (most important). So I had a girly night last night, I did my hair and makeup and "shopped" in my closet. Yes, I had my own fashion show....not my usual mantra. But, as I was checking myself out I just felt so beautiful. I've never been one of those girls that was "uncomfortable" in their skin, I've always had friends, always had a good time on my own as well, and always been bigger through most of it. But for some reason last night I realized how much self-confidence I have gained through this almost-20 pounds I have lost. I couldn't stop smiling, it felt great :)

So, the bad side.....I am so frustrated with my coworker. I have talked to my supervisor and he is so anti-confrontational that nothing ever gets fixed. I've been waiting on some of his analysis since Monday, something that should have taken him 2 days tops. Well, shockingly (and as I predicted to my boss), he messed it up and had to start over. So now it's Thursday and I'm still waiting...as is my boss...which makes me look like the idiot because I'm the one who sends out the analysis to whomever dropped the sample off (regardless of the fact that I told my boss it was my coworker's fault). I'm not his boss, we are colleagues, same title. It's not my job to babysit him. This is all on top of the million little things he does throughout the day, like breaking glassware, stealing my notebook, making a mess.

Also, I've been saving some samples for 3 months to use for a trial at the end of the year to update some machinery. These are samples that we've ran already and would normally be tossed afterwards. So, I was organizing them into groups this morning and there are some missing. Apparently, he's been taking samples out of the box because he's messed them up and using them without telling me, not putting them back, and then eventually they have been thrown away. I need those exact samples for comparative purposes.

And lastly, we've been asked to tag-team this urgent project, we are only able to work on it separately though and in another area of the building. He worked on it for an hour yesterday and then I relieved him. We agreed we would take turns like that. So an hour passes, two pass, three pass....he's nowhere to be found. By this time, I'm 3/4 of the way done so I just stay through lunch and knock it out. Now I know he's going to say that he worked on it, but seriously, I am going to take every bit of credit minus the 10 samples he ran that you can't even read his notes on because he's so sloppy. I just cannot handle him anymore, I am beyond tired of it. And it doesn't matter, my boss knows I will pick up his messes because I don't want to let down the people depending on us. Ugh.....

In other news, have to go to the "woman" doctor today....annual boobie squeeze, yippee....hubby comes home tomorrow, thank goodness, I really miss him this time...it's poop-tastic weather for the rest of the week into the weekend so that kinda stinks...my cold just will not die and has erupted cold sores all over my top lip...but hey, I look good in leggings so I'm gonna focus on that to get me through the day...happy thurday, muahs :)

What a good post and don't feel alone my coworker is just as bad and everytime I talk to management I get the we know and things will change but they never do and I still clean up her financial messes and meet the suspense she doesnt, it is like beating your head against the wall. As for the rest you should be proud that you did a fashion show for yourself and the girlie stuff as well what really stands out is the You feel pretty that is so awesome that you have had that moment. I know when I had it is was just out of the blue and I have been trying to explain that to my daughter because in her case she was about 240 and now down to 174 she is 5'8" and big boned like myself and looks amazing but still doesnt see it when she looks in the mirror and I dont know how to explain the damn I look great, any words of wisdom on yours or did it just hit you also?

It just kinda hit me, I was like DAMN lol....I wish I had some good advice, maybe she needs to do what I did? Have some girly time, get to know herself again, try on some cute stuff, a little pampering can go a long way! Thank you for your words, that made my day :) And I wish you the best with her, it can be hard being bigger nowadays, she just needs to find something to make her feel amazing :)

Geez, I just re-read her size...she must be like a model! 5'8" and 174, that's not a bad proportion at all!

so glad you got to have that happy girly time. It sure beats looking through your closet in disgust because nothing fits for the opposite reason. lol That's me now. I will trade you! You're inspiring though. I want a girly moment with my closet some day soon. As for the co-worker.... I have nothing. Nothing that would be workplace appropriate at least :)

Haha thanks DFW...I hope your girly moment comes soon :)

I'm glad you feel good in your leggings. Don't get too upset about the co worker, he's not worth it.

Haha! Looking pretty, with cold sores and all. I get it! Good for you! Glad hubby is coming back tomorrow. The coworker thing sucks; there must be one of those in every corporation. All I can say is, as bleak as it may seem now, the counterfeit is usually and ultimately brought to light. Your thoroughness, competence, and work ethic should eventually be recognized as a result of your attitude and the documents and reports you produce. No coworker can be a successful parasite forever. You do take vacations periodically, right? Surely, he doesn't shine while you are gone.

Yay for feeling good about yourself and feeling pretty!!! :) That's really unfortunate about your coworker and the fact that your boss isn't doing anything about it must be super frustrating for you. You deserve all the recognition for your hard work, and I hope they realize that!

Whether it's your fitness goals or work goals, you've been working hard. Wish the results of your efforts at work were as pretty as the efforts you've bestowed on yourself, but take what you can get, right?!?!

So much of this is mental....when you have a good outlook, you feel like you can really take the reigns and do better for yourself...once her mind catches up to how gorgeous she is, she'll be unstoppable :) She'll get there, pops :)

That is one of the many benefits of the military: there are many ways to weed out folks like your colleague. On a good note, glad to hear that you enjoyed your own personal fashion show!

Rockiesfan... perhaps you need to make her a before and after pic like my new profile pic... that was a "light bulb" moment for me as well.

I'm happy for you that you feel so good in the leggings. I had somewhat of a similar feeling when I finally fit into smaller clothes. As for the co-worker, I can only suggest that you do the things you have control over, such as being up-front with the guy about how he's messing you up, getting into the samples that you had set aside for specific purpose, and not pulling his weight - then continue sharing problems with your boss about him, maybe go over your boss's head if he won't do anything about it but consider any possible ramifications to you before doing that. Probably not that much help with this, nothing new you haven't already thought of I'm sure. Unfortunately most of us likely have somewhat similar PIA's in the workplace. My primary one just retired, I'm thankful for that, and her replacement is much better.

Unfortunately, the civilian sector has unions and workers' rights. And, it sounds like your boss doesn't care...but does your boss have a boss? If it were me, I'd have to do what we call a "mentoring session" with the idiot and document every measure taken to improve the person's products. If that didn't help, I'd take my complaints, along every piece of documentation, to my boss and my boss' boss.

Thanks guys, I've definitely considered all of the above...our company was just bought out so and the transition begins in January, I'm kind of biding my time because I'm sure there will be restructuring...but in the meantime, it's definitely a test....
