Sideview's Journal, 06 Nov 22

It's been a year almost to the day since I began this journey. My original plan was to lose 35 pounds, which I have done, but my Doctor says lose another 15, which I had sort of planned anyway, but wow, am I struggling now.

I began because my hubby has dementia and I realized that if I didn't so something about my weight and my overall health, I wouldn't be able to take care of him as he declines. I do feel better, have more energy and less aches and pains, but lately I feel really down. And.... can you spell Halloween candy?! Last year I tossed out any leftovers, this year I ate them...*sigh.

So, if anyone wants to give me a swift kick or a hug, I would appreciate it.

I know the symbol for hugs and kisses is OXOX they need to come up with one for hugs and swift kicks 😂 Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’ve proven you can do this. One day at a time. Yesterday is in the rear view. Tomorrow is out of reach. Today is totally in your power to tame and direct. You got this.

I'm new to the app and calorie counting, but not new to caring for ailing family members! A loved one with a chronic and progressive illness is hard on your body/mind/spirit. Be kind and generous with yourself And don't sweat the small stuff (aka Halloween candy)... think of it as a date-specific slip and refresh your weight loss commitment post-Halloween. Your strength of character is obvious through your concerns for your partner, so I'm positive it will continue to help you with weight management. But, it bears repeating, be kind to yourself as you progress.

Thanks everyone, I got on the scale this morning and was back down that .8 of a pound and I'm feeling much more upbeat. Went grocery shopping and changed some of my "meats", I'm so sick of chicken! Tonight it's liver and brussel sprouts...LOL!! Yeah, I know, but I like them!

Hug! Just a suggestion, I’ve been really feeling blue lately and have added a meditation practice to my day. Just 3 minutes here and there and it has been allowing me to feel less stressed and hard on myself. Bless you for wanting to look after your husband through this journey, look after yourself too. ❤️

a hug will do better for you and you can have as many as you need. try and think 1 and done. had a day with treats, it's ok don't let it derail you, enjoy and move on.
