59Carol's Journal, 16 Oct 22

I gained a pound this week. Never what I intended however I had two blow out days as far as calories went and then had to fight hard to get it to just a pound gain.

Today we are celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving one week later. Just didn't fit people's schedules to do it last week. I expect my calories will be high today. I will do my best however it is a big meal that I have worked hard at preparing. Ii plan to eat all of it, enjoy it but be cognizant of portion sizes. The pie aspect will be hard as I do make good pies and this year by request there is apple, pumpkin and pecan. I will want to taste a little of each. My main stategy is to get most of the leftovers sent home with the family and then freeze little mini meals for myself so that it isn't just sitting in my fridge. Fortunately people are more than willing to take pie home!

This week was all about prepping for Thanksgiving, having the last few days with my granddaughter staying with me and doing some prep work for some of the organizations that I volunteer for.

Sounds like you've been busy! I'm kinda dreading our US Thanksgiving in November because I've been doing so well since mid-June, and I'm concerned that I might go off the rails with all the holiday food. Going to try to put everything into the FS "My Cookbook" and see if the portions are doable. Might end up just having to have a bite or two of some things. The hardest to control myself with (or not to make at all) will be the Sweet Potato Casserole (topped with coconut & pecans!).

Debbie your best bet is to plan, plan and plan. Know what you will eat and how much ahead of time. Allow for the Sweet Potato Caserole. Maybe not a huge portion but have some. Then my best advice is to give away all the leftovers or if that isn't possible, freeze them in portion amounts. I have 8 mini meals frozen for myself and gave away all the pies and the rest of the leftovers! I kept enough to make a turkey stew which I give to the family in frozen portions once it is made. Don't allow yourself to feel deprived. It you think you will feel that way then have some of that food. When I feel deprived I eventually say the heck with it all and eat like a crazy person!!
