59Carol's Journal, 30 Jul 22

I don't have access to a scale so I don't know my weight. However, I have been writing down my eating and according to my estimated calculations -eating out makes this difficult!- I believe I am holding my own.

We had to leave a day earlier than expected when we started doing the 'math' around getting my grandchildren swabbed, results back and ready for the plane. This was more complicated than we expected. All good. Done now! So far we have stayed in Whitecourt (Thursday night) and in Edmonton (last night)

Food wise what has been working so far, is that my daughter and I have been splitting our meals. This certainly has been ensuring better portion sizes for us. I am hoping we can use this method for most of the trip. I am a 'finish my plate' girl so if I don't split the meal I will eat the whole thing.

We get our international licenses today and then drive to Calgary. As it has turned out my son and his wife are in Calgary on business and will be available for us to hang out with this afternoon and tomorrow! That was an unexpected bonus. We fly to France leaving midnight on Sunday.

It all sounds fabulous Carol. My sister and I always split meals and dining out, works well for us. Bonne voyage!
