Fritzy 22's Journal, 20 Jun 22

I have been under 20 grams of fat for most of the past week. Not sure whether my goals is 20% or less or 20 grams or less. I've considered my WOE low fat for quite a while but this last week has shown me how much fat is in the "good" fats I eat regularly - nuts, avocado, olive oil. I also had a low fat mozarella cheese stick most days for the protein and had eggs 1 or 2 times a week. I plan on buying eggs next trip to the grocery store (today) and ground beef because I have been craving tacos. But I won't have them on the same day and be careful of the amount of fat each day. It's really hard for me to get sufficient protein every day without increasing fat unless I eat lots of beans every day and I just don't like them enough. Someone had asked about the wild turkeys I have all the time on my property. The picture is from last year, mama and babies. Wish I could keep them off the deck but I would have to stop feeding the birds

We love turkeys. We have one who comes looking for food every day.

We have wild turkey's too and they do make a mess with their droppings! Love seeing the babies.

Thanks Morticia - I love the turkeys. There are usually around 20-30 hanging around every day. Funny how the hens stick together and so do the toms. It's the same with the deer. Right now I have 3 does who spend a large portion of the day under the deck. Sometimes there are 3-5 bucks. Thanks Redporchlady - I love the babies too but worry about them because there are hawks flying overhead. The mamas seem to know to not bring them out until they are big enough to fly. They make quite a mess.

Good grief, Fritzy. You're like a petting zoo owner. I would've named them already and likely attempted to get them to eat out of my hand. Especially the deer. Sigh. Will live vicariously through you to enjoy wild animals instead of the boring old dogs that people walk around in my apartment complex. 🐶

If you Google "culinary hill chipotle pinto beans copycat" you will find a great recipe for pinto beans. We use them in chili, we eat them with eggs, you can have them with rice. They are so flavorful (although possibly too heavy on cumin)! If you have an instant pot, it doesn't take too long. We always soak our beans overnight prior to cooking to increase digestibility.

Thanks Bananas. I call all the bucks Buck and the does either Mama or Mommy. The turkeys aren't really tame, they fly away if I open the screen door. But if I am outside they come really close to me. Most of the deer know me. I've figured out they don't go far. The deer at my house don't go to my sister's house a few blocks away. They stay within a couple houses and they've seen me since they were babies. I say "Hi Buck" when I see one and they always turn to look at me. They are fun but they make a mess! Thanks Zapots - I am not crazy about beans but am trying to eat more since I don't each much meat and they are a low fat way to get more protein. I've never really eaten pinto beans. Other than tacos made with beef I don't eat Mexican food. One time I got a bean burrito by mistake when I ordered tacos. I could only eat a bite then I threw it away.
