Sandy701's Journal, 14 May 11

After an evening and night of moderate storms and a good rain, this morning was another bright day with temps already in the mid-70's when I went out walking. Doggies, extra-peppy from not walking yesterday, went along for their usual 2.6 miles and I finished off with my usual 3.3 miles.

I've been dealing with hunger again, even on days like yesterday when my calories were higher. But then I'm wondering if it's truly hunger or just something emotional going on that I want to calm with food. I just know that if I weren't logging food and went strictly by "hunger," I'd eat a lot more.

I'm thinking it's emotional because if I get busy with something and take my mind off food, I don't notice the hunger at all. I do have a fair amount of sugar alcohols and some added sugar in the foods I eat, so there's always the possibility that they're triggering some cravings. I KNOW that the solution is to clean those things up, go fresher, and definitely add the proper amount of veggies (which I've almost never achieved), but if I can get by without doing that, then that's probably what I'd do.

I don't really need solutions to this (yet)... just journaling what's going on.

Sandy it started raining here yesterday at about 6 pm and has been raining off and on since then (mostly on). The temps have gone from near 90 Thursday to 53 today....it is nuts, so we are spending the day in playing cards and drinking a low carb margarita

Stef, a good card game and libations sound like a perfect solution to a rainy day. Heaven knows you could use some indoor rest!

Sandy, graet job on being green! ctlss, I saw today yesterday in Walmart there is a zero calorie margarita mix out now. Too cool, not if only the alchohol would list calories:)

Now about feeling hungry, I have delt with that too, off & on. I tried all sorts of things, what worked best was to plan a mid-afternoon snack like a salad, or some veggie left over from previous night. For me it comes in stages, I can't figure it out, other than I think it was my bodies way of saying, Hey, I am shrinking - feed me dummy or I'll get smaller! If I listened, well, I think you get the idea, I had a snack to shut the monster up!

Stef, BuffyBear, Melissa & GG-Girl, thanks for the "green" wishes. Unfortunately, if I had to weigh in now, I'd be back to yellow. The dreaded peanut butter demon has attacked and I'm afraid I'm just waving the white flag! I AM going to have to do something about focusing and wanting food all the time. I went thru a bout like this last summer and it just seemed to go away after being a bother for too long. Maybe that'll happen this time; at least I can hope.
