Nikina70's Journal, 13 May 22

It's small, but I'll take it. Didn't manage a workout this morning, but it was a productive morning in other ways so I might get it done this evening or tomorrow morning. Last night's poetry evening was really great again and I'm glad I went. Feeling a bit more confident being there on my own - even if it's only once a month. Did a little walk there and back.

I'll walk to the cathedral for a free lunch time concert today as well. This time it's a mezzo soprano so that will be interesting. Will do a little jaunt to the shops afterwards before I head home. Looks like good weather tomorrow so we'll do a picnic in the park and take the frisbee this time. And on Sunday there's a longer meetup walk so that will be fun too. Hayfever has got me sneezing again this morning, but luckily the anti-histamines work straight away.

Hope you're all having a fabulous Friday! xxx

Hi Booty. Nope, I just like going to a monthly open mike poetry evening at a local pub. I am one of the few who just go to support and don't get on stage - only my third one so far. Hope you enjoy your class though - sounds amazing!

My son suffers from seasonal allergies. It’s tough. At least your meds work. It sure helps!

I love free music. we have an outdoor organ (technically the world's largest outdoor organ - LOL for the fellow immature) and they do free concerts on Tuesdays from spring until fall. it's pretty cool to be walking and hear it in the park. if the weather is right, I can hear it at the house, but most of the time I'm already at the park. sometimes it's just the organ, others they have accompanying instruments or singers. just depends. good for you adventuring on your own. so many wonderful things to discover in new places.

Nikina… write poetry! You embody poetry and music. I don’t write poems because it’s just too damn hard, so now it’s your job to write them. I do like words, and poetry exercises are fun. This morning I did synonym exercise. Next challenge: metaphors. Please get yourself a cute notebook and start jotting things down, like alliterations that pop into your head while you do Kaleigh Cohen. Have a lovely weekend.

You write poetry? Wonderful! I've gotten away from it in recent months, but it's a wonderful creative outlet

It sure does, Wifey! I hope your son has found something that works for him too! My sister has it a bit tougher because the meds make her drowsie so she often can't take it when driving so I feel lucky.

Kat, I love free music too! Those Tuesday concerts sound great! World's largest organ...🤣 I love that you can hear it from home too sometimes, but I would be in the park mostly too. I am enjoying exploring, but I feel like I'm probably missing out on some stuff too, so I'm trying to check social media regularly and keep my ears and eyes open. Today in the park there was a poster up for a two day art exhibition happening nearby soon, which I might not have heard of. Hope you're having a lovely weekend and that Hogan's doing well!💕

yfritz, I do think a poetry class might be fun to do at some point, but for now I'm just enjoying being the occasional audience/spectator/supporter. I do enjoy spoken word (from a safe distance off-stage in the shadows😊). I have actually gotten myself a nice new notebook a while ago, but it's meant as a gratitude journal and to work out some other things - I feel some purging is needed from the last few years. And then I want to work out exactly what I want from my life going forward and what steps I need to take to get there. I've met at least one inspiring person recently who turned their life and career around at some point and I just want to work out exactly where I'm headed and if I need to shift direction too. Mine won't be a full 360 degrees, but maybe just a 30 if that makes sense. Not sure exactly when I'll start doing that though - I think it's gonna be a bit emotional, but at the moment life is going ok and I'm not too stressed or anxious as I was a while ago so I'm just enjoying that for a while. The notebook is on my bedside table ready for me. Hope you're doing well too and having a lovely weekend!☀️💕 Thanks for stopping by.🤗 Maybe I will do some fun jotting too sometime.

Thanks Petra! It's much easier getting out now the weather's warmer too, but I am lucky to be able to walk to so many places. Hope you're having a fab weekend! That pic of you on the boat is just so dreamy and breezy! Enjoy!!!☀️🤗💕

writingwyo - nope, I'm afraid I just like to watch all the other brave souls and it's only the third monthly event I've attended. It is a lovely creative outlet as you say. I quite like that there are all sorts of people and so many different ideas that come up - it does make one think and I've really enjoyed it so I will keep going.😊

Ahh Nikina, you should give it a go,,I have to read some of mine aloud at an open mic night when the classes finish but I'm OK with public speaking and looking forward to it. I'm also a massive art fan, please take lots of pictures to show us. It's so good to hear ur settling into your town nicely, maybe you're the missing jigsaw piece they were all waiting for!!❤

Did you go on your picnic? Sorry to hear about your hay fever, hope you’re feeling a bit better. You have a beautiful way with words…you should consider writing poetry or prose xx

So sweet of you to say, Booty, but I hardly think they've all just been waiting for me to move here. Lol! There are some people filming the performers to post on social media, but I'd rather just be in the moment and not fidgeting with my phone so I'm afraid there won't be any pics. Glad you're looking forward to reading your work at the end of your classes! I think you'll be great so hope you post a pic or two! I'm sorry I'm not as good at taking or sharing pics. xxx

Suma, yes, our picnic was quite lovely. We ended up on a park bench under the shade of some trees and were able to watch all the families and people walking their dogs, some of whom came up to sniff what was on offer. My hay fever's not too bad at the moment as long as I take the daily pill in the morning as soon as it starts. The sneezing hasn't woken me up in the middle of the night yet so hopefully I'll by-pass that this year - will see how it goes. Thank you for your kind words too! xxx

Thanks Gib! Yes, that's one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. For someone who works from home and doesn't speak to many people on a daily basis, it's lovely to be able to hear so many others' ideas, observations and opinions. Hope you have a great week too! xxx
