Gotta try harder if I want to get off this annoying plateau. This is a note to self; I know what I need to do. On a positive note, tomorrow I have my yearly appointment with the doctor which precipitated my joining FS 13 months ago. Should be close to 40 pounds less ~ looking forward to the reaction, and a chance to promote this site and all the great people here.

Yayy Rhumba, you did that💪🏾💕. Enjoy tomorrow, don't let that plateau bring you down, in fact (and this is just my point of view) love yourself through it, your body just needs time to feel its safe to releasing those pounds, especially if you've been steadily losing, kinda like you giving an investor even more money after having just investing every day for a month, our bodies like predicatbility and weight loss means change. Blessings🙏🏽💕💕.

Hello everyone and thank you for all the kind words of encouragement earlier this week. Just now getting to an update on the doctor’s visit. So the appointment was at a different office on a different scale (and at 3 p.m.!) so the loss was not quite as great as I had hoped. As for the doctor’s reaction, there wasn’t one until I brought it up at the end of the visit. In her defense she is not a gp, nutritionist or weight loss specialist so she was busy asking all the normal questions about other aspects of my health and apparently didn’t notice it. I reminded her that I had been close to tears 13 months ago upon the realization that I had gained another 8 pounds since the last visit. She did want to know how I did it so I told her about all the features of FS, the great community and how important the tracking is. Then she said something interesting: “You know, the current guidance is that we shouldn’t say ‘great, way to go!’ when a patient has lost weight because that might be considered fat-shaming.” To which I replied, “but when someone gains 20 lbs since the last visit then you’re supposed to mention it, right?” and of course she agreed. She’s a nice lady and good doctor in her field so it’s all fine. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this.

RhumbaGirl, I think your last comment/follow up should be an entirely different post... that said, I experienced a similar situation with my gp around the same lbs lost. she didn't say anything, but my nurse who was obese herself had quite a bit to say and ask. I haven't been back to my gp office since, but I did run into her at the grocery store a few weeks ago, (around 80lbs lost), and she was in utter disbelief. She had a lot to say at that point lol. I think they have to remain "neutral" for legal purposes but they're human just like the rest of us and have to make a professional choice to cheer us on or "risk their career" and some are able to do it on a patient by patient bases. perhaps your dr will be more willing to cheer you on in the future now that they're aware of your feelings. oh, and great job on your progress!!!
