Lisa Online's Journal, 17 Apr 11

Sunday ,

I started this Journal yesterday and have been going nuts thinking about the possibility of getting sued by my NEW NEIGBORS. Around 6PM I went over to see how their little girl was doing which was about an hour after they got home from Mercy Emergency. The little girl had to get two shots in her hand for infection that a bite may my carry.

After I found out how the little girl was doing I told the Mother that the black cat she said she saw bite her daughter while she was hoola hooping was not CC because I found CC in the house with the cone still intact on his head. I let her know I will keep an eye out for the stray black cat that bit her daughter so that animal control can be called. She nodded and said thank you for checking in on Lily. I am not sure what will happen but I have kept my time line of the events in a notebook in case I need to refer to this day in the future. The bite wasn't too bad as it cut the web between two of her fingers and the skin underneath was exposed, but their wasn't a huge penetration from what I could see, nor any scratches. This mother rarely is outside watching her children so I find it odd that she saw a cat jump up and bite her daugther. Their pit bull puppy is the most likely culprit as he is jumpy and nippy stage.

Todd my attorney friend was so very kind to offer his advice. It is nice to have an attorneys ear when these potential legal night mares crop up. My head feels like it has been squeezed between a vice.

February, we noticed a streak of a black cat that frequented our backyard. Our little dogs, Amy 7 and lulu 6 happily chase it away. March 16th I cannot believe my eyes how calm the dogs are around him and it is amusing to watch them play and wag their tails around him. This cat has managed to befriend our two yipper- yappers over a 5 week period which was totally amazing to me.

After school around the 17th of March this social cat made friends with Mary and it was love at first sight. Mary who is definitely the biggest animal lover in the Bivens household takes great care of her gold fish and our two little Chiuhahua Jack Russel Terriers. She was very concerned that this stray had a sand paper tongue and was relieved to find that this is the way cats tongues are made lol and worried about how skinny and messy this stray cat appearance was with strange patches of scars on the back of her legs and the side of her body. Well, Mary did the thing you do when you make friends with a stray. She fed it tuna fish and gave it a bath. Yes, she gave this cat a bath as easily as you would give a two year old toddler who loved the water!!...Again, I am truly at awe here.

Brian has been very adamant that there will be no cats which frustrated Mary because she always wanted and hinted around to have one. Brian said NO Cats! The conditions turned into "Okay but only outside"! Well guess what CC... (Cool Cat or Crazy Cat) has made a valiant effort to be Mary's cat and has managed to adopt our family and make peace with Brian who has actually let him in one cold morning because he was knocking at the screen door lol. Last Monday the cat developed a large abcess on his face so we took it down to the vet. It is on a regimin of antibiotic and wearing a cone until next Friday. He has been sleeping a lot due to the antibiotic and hasn't been outside jumping fences with his cone on to play hoola hoop. The mom told me she saw a black cat jump up and bite her daughter in the hand while she was playing in her backyard doing a hoola hoop. I don't exactly know what they are thinking but since she approached me yesterday afternoon in an accusatory fashion before taking her daughter to the emergency room I am not sure if they are planning on sueing us. Again, another day in the life of this non-stress eating Towanda girl!!!!!!

Ugh, what a mess. I hope that the neighbor's daughter turns out OK and that nobody gets sued. It stinks, too, because things were going so well with your husband agreeing to having CC in the house. (Heh. Funny how the cats seem to win these battles, eh?) But it is good that you are being proactive. What will happen will happen, so all you can do is put yourself in as good a position as you can, and it appears that that's what you're trying to do, what with recording events and getting legal advice.

I heard that it's pretty easy for doctors to identify a cat bite and dog bite , so hopefully they know which it was ,have a good day Lisa....

Yes, it is upsetting what people will try to do as desparate people do desparate things. I was home with the cat yesterday and it wasn't possible for him to be outside biting her daughter. I had a feeling these people would be some kind of trouble when they moved in a few months ago, and I may be right. I truly hope not. This 23 year old young mother who is living on a disability lawsuit needs to think twice about taking legal action because this Towanda Girl won't go down for the count without a fight. TOWANDA!!!

Coach it didn't look like a bite it was a small tear without blood in the webbing between the fingers. I would think they could tell the difference between cat and dog bites. Great news and perhaps the reason why she didn't say anything further about the cat when I went over to see how her little girl was doing. TOWANDA!!

I'm thinking so radio and have decided not to worry about it. It was just disconcerting though. TOWANDA!!!

Lisa - I don't mean to be rude, but your cat is in much danger out of doors. Some people hate cats, others dogs. There are many cat diseases that one outdoor cat can give to another just by eating out of a bowl outdoors, my dumb friend Luanne doesn't believe this. Keep kitty indoors - it may take stopping the escape attempts, but if you have an indoor cat you can't be sued for anything. Hope it works out well, the kid probably has already been told to say it was your cat by her parents anyway...

Yes Glenn, I hear ya and you are correct. This cat who decided to adopt us has been indoors pretty much since the day my husband decided he could come indoors. This neighbor lady said she saw a black cat bite her daugther so I must assume she is not lying and did see perhaps another stray black cat? I was totally taken aback by all of this yesterday and I don't see your comment as rude but concerned as you are correct Glenn. My cat was with me yesterday. 10 minutes before she came over I was wrapping a baby shower present and the cat decided it would be fun to lay on the package that was wrapped. There are a lot of dumped stray cats around due to the school yard that is directly behind my home and it is very sad. Truly I believe this injury was most likely caused a their rambunctious puppy pit bull and perhaps the little girl didn't want to say this to her mother because she was afraid of getting in trouble for riling up their dog? I know I am speculating here but find the story of a cat jumping up and biting the little girl while hoola hooping quite unlikely. Even it if was my cat it would have been quite a feat with a cone on its head and it would have also had to jump a fence and let me tell you the balance of a cat with a cone on his head is very unstable...TOWANDA!!!!

Hi Lisa - I deleted the previous comment as it was sort of stupid, but some people are out for any excuse to sue these days. I hope your Easter season is good...

So sorry you have to go through this. It wasn't your cat so don't worry about it. I know you feel badly about the little girl but at this point that's all you can do. I don't really think they can sue you anyway without real proof so relax Lisa. She was probably just upset because her little girl got hurt.

Thanks Cathy, the little girl didn't need a stitch and it was very minor and she is running around in her backyard playing fine. My sister said the neighbor lady probably didn't want to report in the emergency room report that it was her pit bull because it would be one strike against the pup. Now, that made a whole lot of sense to me especially because Mary told me awhile ago that her daugthers said they had to have their old dog put down because he killed a small animal. I am relaxing about it finally it was just mind blowing for a few. TOWANDA!!!!
