Nikina70's Journal, 21 Jan 22

This week calorie counting is going fairly well. Last week I ended on 1766 daily average - some fry-up breakfasts and a few excesses to blame, but such is life. This week I'll aim for 1750 again. Only did two strength workouts this week and they were shorter than usual so I'm not sure why I didn't get it together. Also went on less walks this week than the week before.

The parkrun on Saturday was cancelled because the path was too icy, but hubby and I walked up to the start and back anyway so that was 45 minutes on its own. Then we went for another nice walk around a lake on Sunday. It looks like - if I start my week off with a good workout on Sunday - then it sets me up for a better week. My desk calendar starts the week on Sunday so mentally I'm taking that as the start of the week so I'll try to do a workout on Sunday then and see if that kick starts a better week for me (workout-wise). All just slight variations.

We think the parkrun will be cancelled tomorrow as well so might go for a walk this afternoon and then just do grocery shopping tomorrow morning. There is a local 6 mile walk on Sunday we can join, but we'll see what the weather's like/how we feel.

Hope you're all hitting those goals for January! I didn't really have a number in mind so I'm just happy that it's a downward trend. Happy Friday all!!! xxx

Fantastic drop Nikina. I love reading your posts. I've been making excuses and generally failing😂. Hopefully today is the day to start all over again. Happy Friday x

Fry ups are needed from time to time, full of protein and high energy!

Happy Friday to you too, Suma! I've made some excuses myself this week as far as exercise goes. As long as we get up and carry on it's all good. Hope you get back to it soon, but I hope you're well and not letting it get you down. xxx

Thanks emilyalice34! I guess you're right - they do have their benefits besides being so darn tasty! And we've started doing our vegan sausages and hash browns on the george foreman grill so no extra oil.

I had started a downward spiral - have had covid complication related health drama🙄. So easy to get into a negative headspace when life throws a curve ball. I haven't been good with diet etc, but I have been kind to myself and am trying to practice grace. That is all I can muster right now, and it is enough. I love reading your posts, because you work, live your life, workout and try to make better food choices. I want to find balance when I'm ready, like you have xx

Thank you for your kind words, Suma! It's taken me some time to get to this point. I hope you get to a good place too again. Just be patient with yourself. Baby steps will get there in the end. Be well! xxx
