59Carol's Journal, 24 Jul 21

The weight is up half a pound...which I will take as a win. Last week I anticipated with the colonoscopy and the attendant food restrictions that I would gain weight. And I did - at one point 3 pounds. The colonoscopy was on Wednesday so I have had a few 'normal' days to catch my feet so was able to lose 2.5 pounds before this morning.

The colonoscopy was all good news! No polyps at all. I have always had some to be removed and since this test was delayed for an extra 5 years (breast cancer, my husband's out of town medical procedures and COVID all delayed my test) I was thrilled with these results as was my doctor. He did impress on me that he would see me in 5 years again and not 10 next time!

I was pretty excited about getting a cat next week. I had all the arrangements in place. She was spayed yesterday and.... she is pregnant. Since she is a breeder the deal is off the table. So no kitty for me. I am disappointed however I hadn't met her yet so my disappointment is all academic at this point.

The crows continue to attack my house and be giant nuisances. Something happened yesterday while I was in town as there is blood all over my sliding glass door where the crows were being particularly persistent. Maybe a stray cat took one of the crows down? Not sure but pretty gross out there! The crows still caw in the background so they are not cowed. I hear two crows right now pecking at the glass door again even with all the blood splattered on it. Yuck!

Great news about your test results, I'm a year late and need to schedule mine. Could you hang something fluttery near that area to frighten them away? Or perhaps a large cutout of a hawk? You might try consulting your county agent or the Canadian equivalent (the agency that offers advice to farmers, gardeners and such). Hope you can resolve this soon. 🌈

We have crows near us too that caw and caw early morning. It drives me crazy!!! They’re worse than any alarm!! I hope they leave my door alone. That’s so insane!! Why are they peaking at your glass?? Any idea? I can’t stand them or pigeons, which might be worse. Seems the east coast is overrun with both. 😩

Wow Carol who exciting all is well!👍👏👏👏🌺🌸🌼 Crows may have killed a stray sick cat, or maybe something smaller. West Nile is back which kills crows so maybe they will be gone soon. As a gang they sometimes can be ruthless.😧 I am so sorry Wifey and Carol, I am a crow lover. They are one of the smartest animals, but can be a nuisance so I do sympathize. 😣 Blessings Carol on your good news!💕

Still with the birds! It's like someone put a hex on your house. Wow! Sorry to hear you aren't getting your kitty.

Those crows are becoming a bane of my life. I am pretty sure it was a stray cat that took out a crow that left the bloody mess. There is no body which makes me think a cat carried it away. Yesterday I had 4 crows on my porch with two pecking on the glass door. They also attack my bow window. It appears that they see themselves in the glass and react to the 'strange' bird. I checked on the internet and they said the hawk silhouttes are not effective with crows. I have plastic by the basement windows they first attacked that fluttered but that didn't deter them. I had to make sure all glass surface was totally covered to get them to go away from those windows. I just don't want to cover all my main floor windows in plastic. I think there are around 15-20 crows that have moved into my yard. They keep moving so it is hard to get an accurate count.

I am disappointed about not getting my cat. I will be on the look out for another one. I am fairly fussy about what kind of cat I like so it may be awhile before I find another one that appeals to me.
