I need to figure out why I'm so hungry at night. This has been my problem for years. I know I don't need a single calorie more, but my hunger is real.

I read an article today by a fitness influencer so take it with a grain of salt but she said it really doesn’t matter what time you eat as long as you’re spacing your snacks throughout the day and it comes down to how many cals you’re consuming in a day and it doesn’t matter when. Again she’s just one fit person 🤷‍♀️

I have this same problem. Most things I have read indicate that a minimum of 3 hours, between the last meal and bedtime, is necessary to sleep well. I have been having a high-protein, low carb meal at suppertime. It does seem to help. Try it!

I have been unable to sleep for hunger. I can't imagine going to bed the hours after eating... ...that said I'm rarely hungry until around 11am. We are all different. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I discovered a new broth called Ramen Pork Broth from Campbell's, very few calories (I think 10?), it solves my hunger problem if I'm feeling peckish. Flavourful, warm, salty, filling! I'm also going to try the Thai broth and see how that works.

Usually something carb-rich. We had blueberry muffins in the house, so last night that's what I had. The night before I had an English muffin with butter and cinnamon sugar. That was after having hot tea with milk and sugar, cucumbers with dressing, and 2%greek yogurt with cherries and honey, all of which I had hoped would help me avoid wanting the simple carbs.

I eat dinner between 7 & 8 PM. I then have dessert. Dinner is usually filling & my most substantial meal of the day. Dessert varies depending on how many calories I have left. When I was in weight loss mode, most often I had a low calorie Outshine fruit pop. I never feel hungry afterwards. Like you I eat breakfast late morning. If I'm going to get the munchies or feel hungry it's late afternoon. Two cups of popcorn usually fixes that. Try saving enough calories for a snack you know will satisfy you & make you feel full.

I usually don't eat dinner until after 9 p.m. This breaks a lot of diet rules, of course, but it works for the natural rhythms of my internal clock. I've lost weight anyway, largely because I eat clean and avoid restaurants. If I'm absolutely still hungry at midnight and it's going to disrupt my sleep, I'll munch on a bunch of red grapes.

Okay , buy monk fruit sweetener and use that instead of regular sugar or stevia. Its little heavy of expensive side. It taste 100% same as sugar but Zero cal and Zero carbs. Make muffins with oats Super healthy. Make carrot pudding with this sweetener. Per 30gms sering 60 cals 2% fat zero sugar 1% carbs. If you got cravings to eat heavy stuff but with less fat and under 10gms of carbs. Couple options you can try - Spinach puree cooked with spices and eat with Vital wheat gluten bread (need to make it at home per 30 gms 6 gms carbs and 23gms protein and zero fat) Buy Konjac Spaghetti or Pasta(Has zero carbs fat and calories) cook with chicken. Less than 100 cals with chicken and less than 30 cals with vegetables. Cook cauliflower rice with chicken or just simply with green/red peppers and cottage cheese/paneer and soya sauce with spring onions and cilantro. - less than 6gm carbs and 4%fat with 200 cals of big bowl. I have paid $1000’s to my coach to get to know about these recipes. Don’t eat red meat if you want to lose weight. No compromise with your cravings but 80-90% less carbs and fat and calories.

same problem my partner has (hungry late, unable to sleep because of it) And indirectly me, since I see her snacking and want to join in. We've tried to be creative and find healthier snacks for cravings. frozen fruit, popcorn, small number of low-cal crackers with cucumber or celery to go with. I also make myself drink a large glass of water before indulging; it either stops the craving or helps me take less food. It is hard, but focus on why you're on this journey and do your best!

Thank you everyone for the ideas and support! I'm trying to focus on mindful eating and posting attention to what my body is telling me. Substitute options for the calorie dense things I want have not done the trick, but I'll keep trying!

Yeah it sucks. Keeping busy is a simple way to get your mind off food. If you're watching TV or YT videos and you usually snack while you do that then you're accustomed to that routine and your body will want food at those times. I don't really have a solution but what works best for me (same exact problem as you) is eating nuts and seeds. A handful of almonds and pumpkin seeds and a glass of tomato or low sodium veg. juice really sustains me for a while. It's still a pretty small amount of food nut 200-225 calories total with a mix of those items lasts me a few hours. Good luck and stay strong.

I was in the habit of eating lots at night watching tv. I just aimed to cut it down slowly. When I was still having those cravings to eat a lot I’d have air popped popcorn, then sugar free jello then a whole pot of herbal tea (no sweetener) when I still needed the volume. Or maybe the repetitive movement. But I don’t have the strong urge or hunger any more before bed. And this is all assuming you’ve eaten enough during the day of course. Good luck. You’ve got it :-)

I usually chew sugar free gum and drink lots of water after dinner and strictly tell myself that a craving is just a craving. I keep myself busy! I talk with friends and I also drink a cup of green tea. Yea is a wonderful appetite suppressor!

I know exactly what you mean! Plain popcorn is good if you want to munch on something. Or some herbal tea.

Not eating enough during the day leads to overeating or binges at night.

Not sure if this will work for you. but a few walnuts and almonds (like 3 each) with dinner helped me curve that.

I've challenged myself to eat an apple a day, just in general, and have found that, after one week, I don't seem to crave simple carbs at night as much as usual. However, I also found that I'm much hungrier in the morning. I'm figuring it out, slowly.
