Well, that’s better! Twelfth week of keeping track here on FS, determined that if I did it before (albeit a long time ago) I can do it again. Lately my daily average has been in the 1300s. Can’t expect much more loss when I’m still mostly sedentary. In two weeks I have a special event I’d like to look decent for, so another couple of pounds gone would be great. Then after that my WFH situation will improve so I can get out of the house more.

Blessings to everyone as we start a new week. The pounds won’t lose themselves so we have to help them.

That's wonderful! I remember going down to 284.5lbs at one point. But it's so easy to gain it all back.

You are right, you did it before and you can do it again. The first step to losing weight is a sensible diet. My wife had surgery to lose weight a few years ago. It was great - she was down to what she weighed back in high school and looked fantastic, but the problem was she has a terrible diet. She drinks diet coke - for some reason, most everyone I know that drinks a lot of diet coke it overweight (I wonder if that is my perception of if anyone else noticed that?) I kept trying to tell her that she had a terrible diet, but she never listened. And the thing is, she's an RN so she should know better. Eventually she has gained a lot of her weight back. Now I am trying to talk her into coming to the gym and working out with me, but she just does her own thing. It is a shame because she has to know the effect it is going to have on her health long term. Anyways, you know - you have to do it yourself if you want to do it. No one can convince you. If you are determined you WILL do it. You can and you will.

Thank you Morgan for the encouragement. Right back at you! The last time I lost weight I made the mistake of failing to embrace the notion of being in maintenance. Even though I was still exercising, I stopped writing down, measuring or caring what I was eating. Then some changes in my routine made it harder to get to the gym, and little by little I gained it all back. Thank you also, Jim, and I hope your wife comes around soon to join in your concern for her health. In my case I have just been ignoring the situation for years and it was only when my cholesterol spiked since last summer that I was shaken out of my complacency into doing something about it. Hoping that lab results in the next couple of weeks reflect enough of a change since I’ve basically given up all the junk I used to eat.
