Had a good/bad day yesterday. The good...a long walk and even with tapas and a couple of drinks, lost 1.2lb. The bad..an emotional struggle. started dating again a few months ago after 7 years of not. Met a woman last week and we talked all week, it seemed we had made a great connection, we had our 2nd date last night, shared our first kiss (we both commented on how nice it was), looked forward to a 3rd date and sent her a txt to thank her..never heard back until a few hours later. thank you but not feeling any chemistry. was frankly..surprised..and of course..sad (romantic at heart). thing like that can emotionally trigger me to eat a lot of carbs..but I won't do it. dating at 59, really really sucks.

Texan, that’s really disappointing. I think she was trying to be very direct which I’d hope is the plus side to dating at an older age, hopefully less game playing... this opens things up to meeting someone who’s hopefully much more into you, which you deserve ❤️

Dating at any age sucks. I think in our 50s we have the advantage of knowing who we are and what we are looking for. All we can do is put ourselves out there and try to meet someone that we mesh with. By putting yourself out there, you may just find your soulmate. This one wasn’t meant to be. Focus on you and when you’re ready, put yourself Back out there.

Thx folks. I appreciate the encouragement. I've been through the fires since my life went completely to hell in pretty much every respect from 2012 to 2014. Confident I have any baggage stowed except for my ideal weight goal (i call it the carryon luggage). Ready for my last & best relationship but it is very hard to find.

Been there, done that. Waiting and finding that special someone is a virtue. World really has some wonderful people, the right fit for you is searching also. Don't allow that to bring you down, ride that horse just a little higher because you are worth it. Take care!

Ohhhh. I gotta jump in on this one! Yes dating can be so difficult. I once had a blind date meet me at a 5k run I did. Yah I was heavy-meaning about 140 lbs just to give you reference. Anyway after the race he was a no show. When I got home I had a lovely email that went something like this. “You very obviously have serious mental issues to be overweight and I am not interested in a lady with mental problems - and he was a counselor or something like that. Oh yes indeed. I was crushed and angry. A simple no thank you was more than sufficient. I eventually tried dating again but looked at it differently. I just dated to have an opportunity to go out, have a nice meal or whatever. No expectations. Ultimately, I met my husband and he is my prince. I’ve been very happily married now for 10 years. For all out there dating don’t give up on companionship. I can’t promise it will happen but just relax-no expectations, shake off the disappointments, do what you love to do and in all likelihood it will happen when least expected. Hugs!

OMG, Onamissio...what an arse! If you had mental issues, you likely would've holed yourself up at home instead of putting yourself out there. It sounds like he was projecting his own mental issues onto you. Good riddance!
