The"Night the Music Died". On the 9th of December 30 years ago at the age 18 I wrote the following journal entry.
"Last Night a gun shot was heard and my childhood was shot to death". All the people who knew and loved John Lennon and the Beatles are angry about John's senseless death. We all appreciate the messages and music as their words inspired us. Tears of love lost is flowing as the candle light shun over the faces of despair as we try to find Peace and keep faith and hope for our future.

I was up late that night and heard the news just before midnight. I was listening to a rock channel - which still plays the same type of music as classic rock now, I heard an announcement that he'd been shot by the deejay and then "A Day In The Life" was played and then the news he'd been killed. I remember it well, I was staying at my uncle, aunt and grandmother's place at the time with my cousins. I think I'll play some of his music today...

I won't forget that day either. It happened only 3 months after we'd gotten married. I'm not one to cry over celebrity deaths, but that one got to me. Mr Coco and I were both taking art classes, and he carved a beautiful block print of Lennon that week. We made them into buttons. If I ever went anywhere, I could've been wearing one. Something about Lennon's music speaks to me a little more than McCartney's, although I love both.

I don't exactly remember where I heard the news, weird. My friend remembers me coming over to her house visably upset. Today is a strange day for me as I am having trouble motivating myself at work, I just feel blah and I keep feeling hungry although I am not. I even have music playing and my boss is away on a vacation so I should be reeling in getting projects done as I did yesterday but am not feeling it. I suppose it is the dreary day that it is outside that is making me feel this way. Writing and music usually pulls me out of a funk but all I do is fantasize about eating junk lol. The D.J. on the radio just said traffic is experiencing sluggish conditions which is a great description of my mood today. TOWANDA!!!!!

When you're not in happiest mood, it works most of times for me to think about how much blessings I have and write them down. I've been writing my journals for years and it reminds me what I often forget in my life. How many people yearn for just one more day to be able to live.. and I have that one day and that is today. I will choose to smile...because I have this day which is priceless.. Smile, Lisa, for you have today and it is all yours. Have a restful evening and GREAT Thursday!
