59Carol's Journal, 29 Aug 20

I am pleased to see that I have lost 0.8 pounds this week. For the month of August I have lost 4.4 pounds. I feel like I am on my way again! I averaged 1213 calories per day which is the top end of the window I used to set myself. With the food plan that I am presently following I am aiming to stay at 1300 to 1200 calories per day. With all the beans and grains that I am eating this is a challenge but possible!

This week I have been doing a lot of outside organizing which has included two trips to the landfill and numerous wheelbarrow trips to the burning pile and to other buildings as I sort what is to be kept and what is to 'live' where. If all goes according to plan, a bunch of trucks and machinery are arriving in the next two weeks to haul away my 20+ derelict vehicles, sundry metal piles and knock down three derelict buildings. Very exciting to contemplate that getting done. Fingers crossed that it will happen!

I have my grandkids visiting this weekend. My granddaughter (15) made us an amazing salad including avocados, barberries, walnuts plus many veggies. It was really delicious! The kids decided to make a big bed on my porch last night. To my surprise they are still sound asleep out there in 45F temperatures. Last night my granddaughter was howling with the coyotes while my grandson was having second thoughts about staying outside with her calling them in! My bedroom window was open and I fell asleep listening to them giggle and chat together. It warmed my heart.

Oh I love your beautiful journal messages. I can imagine your world a little bit. Way to go on the losses this month! What a lot of work you have and are doing on. Your place. So glad your family could visit! How precious! How can summer be nearly ending already. I can't imagine ever being ready to endure the temperatures coming your way. My toes and legs still ache with the cold from. Being frozen so much on the Alberta prairie... Oh the wind... I will never forget. Soak up some warm days!

Thanks Melissa. Northern Alberta isn't nearly as windy as the prairies however we do get cold! Thank goodness for the many layers and knowing to dress for the weather. Now that I am retired I have the option of curling up at home which is wonderful. I take the grandkids to town this afternoon. I am so fortunate that they live nearby and I can see them reasonably often. With school opening up next week, I will need to keep my distance for the month. Not sure how we will navigate my daughter's (their mom) birthday mid September. Urgh...COVID is just hard to navigate safely.

Thank you for the support you give me Shirfleur, HCB, Melissa and One point 0! It is nice to be accountable to supportive people! I am equally glad that you see that we are all whole people with hopes and dreams beyond our desire to be healthier weights whether it is connecting with our grandkids or designing our living spaces.
