Making Friends with Your Mirror or the Camera.

It all starts in front of your full-length mirror or a snap shot of a camera. Being able to accept what you see, whether it's a wide waistline or thick thighs, allows you to let go of your old self image-the overweight one that don't deserve to be happy.

Acceptance comes from a place deep inside that recognizes you have the power over your body, rather than the reverse. Because the number on the scale doesn't match the one in your head doesn't mean it won't; it only means it doesn't right now.

Weight issues are often closely linked to self esteem. If yours is in need of a boost, try separating your size from your identity-and seeing what you're all about. Does extra pounds make you less lovable, intelligent, friendly or funny? Once you can shift the focus from your weight to the traits that make you unique, you'll find it easier to forgive your figure and yourself. Healing by choosing to think about things differently can begin as soon as you turn the negative into positive. TOWANDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I was lured in by an ad in a neighborhood paper. It was so funny because I went in for a sparkly fun red halter type party dress and of course they didn't have it in my size so she found this cute little black dress by the same dress maker and it fit perfect! My eyes popped out of my own head when I saw myself in it as I was standing in front of a huge full lenght mirror. Perfection I was not but noticably much improvement for my body comparing to the year before. I am happy with my progress thus far.

She told me she could order the red dress I originally came in for in my size on Monday so I now have a Christmas Party Dress and a New Years Eve Dress. This means I need to be celebrating big time this New Years Eve, I have the dress, I accomplised my goal to take better care of myself this year 2010! TOWANDA!!!!!!!!

I love your blogs .Inspiring.But I still have to work a lot both on my weight and self esteem to like what I see in mirror.

It's so true. This is why I post so many pictures. It's making peace with myself. Self-acceptance. We don't have to be perfection to be beautiful. Sometimes the beauty is in the differences. And owning your own body with no "BUTS". Saying to yourself aloud, this is me. I am me. I inhabit this body. I am neither ashamed nor embarrassed.

Lisa, great journal entry. I have struggled to love myself since I was 13 years old, probably even younger if I were to really think about it. I was always the "chubby" one and never felt like I was as good or as pretty as the other girls. But you know something, I am...I am as pretty, I am as smart, I am who I am and that is who God made me to be. I AM MADE IN GOD'S IMAGE, and who am I to question GOD??? So, yep time to realize that we are all beautiful in the eyes of the ONE who really matters....every thing else fades in comparison!

Lisa I've been told that I look like a GOD... (OK BUDDA is a God RIGHT....) Mirror, mirror on the wall Do you have to tell it all? Where do you get the right To make my clothes look too darn tight? I think I’m fine but I can see You won’t cooperate with me, What’s that, you say? A double chin? No, that’s the way the light shines in, And then if you’re not hanging straight You’ll tell me next I’m gaining weight, I hate you being smug and wise ,Oh look what’s happened to my thighs! I warn you now, Oh mirrored wall, Since we’re not on speaking terms at all, If I look like this in my new jeans You’ll find yourself in smithereens!!
