59Carol's Journal, 01 Feb 20

This is truly inching downwards - 0.2 this week. I was at a full pound most of the week and then.... my toilet was taken out to do the tiling and I have been using the chilly outhouse. Seems like my body is rebelling at this plan. Toilet is back in sometime today.

This was a week of holding fairly steady with few fluctuations in my eating or in my weight. My lowest day was 80 calories under the window and my highest was 60 calories over the window. Three days below the window and three days above the window. Not bad overall.

If all goes according to plan (and things seldom do!!)my renos will be completed this time next week. I will get to put my home back to rights and my routines will be less disrupted. I will miss the fellows as they are good company.

Tonight is my grandson's Ukrainian Dance family recital. It should be fun to watch him perform with his dance troupe.

That happens to me so often! Our weight is such a moving target from day to day, hour to hour, that no matter what number the scale says, it'll be wrong by the time we post it. LOL Yesterday I ate at IHoP. Guaranteed my weight will sky rocket this morning. I didn't even bother checking. :) Tomorrow's weigh-in is gonna suck!

You a so cute in every way. Love the toilet story. I needed a good laugh. Good luck to your grandson and have a wonderful time.

Najwa- I should have told the rest of the story... up at 1 a.m. to use the outhouse. My porch light doesn't reach as far as the outhouse so feeling my way down the path in the pitch dark. Then again at 5 a.m. this time stumbling on the path a bit and getting a 'snow bath' on my bare legs. Very invigorating. I am being promised a functioning toilet in about a half hour. Really don't want to make a last run to the outhouse. Waiting impatiently!~

I love pancakes, LZenn. One of my many weaknesses. They are so not calorie friendly especially because I like mine with peanut butter (the only thing I eat with peanut butter) and syrup. I would like a banana with mine as well however I haven't asked them at the restaurant for that yet. I only allow myself a pancake when at a restaurant! Doesn't make sense to do up a batch when it is just me at home.

["PB&Ps," huh?] I just have to stay out of pancake places. I used to order a stack with lots of butter. (The butter must be added between each one! Hey, it's keto, right?) I would just dip my fork into the syrup before each bite, though. When I discovered that restaurants like iHOP add pancake batter to eggs for omelets, I was so disappointed!

Ah, renovations and remodelling -- I have a lot of experience with that craziness! But, if the crew is nice, that's a plus! Enjoy your new toilet!

So funny about the toilet situation. Hope you are back in your comfort zone 😁

I don't even like pancakes, really. But I'll be damned if I'll go to IHoP and not eat them...for some reason. LOL

My toilet is installed. The world is a happy place. Thank goodness as the wind has really picked up today and snow is blowing. I would not want to do a 1 a.m. trek tonight!! My grandson was wonderful at his dance recital. Very nice!

You're a stronger woman than I am. I would have to go someplace else until I had a working one. great news all the way around this morning. Enjoy

Life is an adventure when the outhouse becomes the main bathroom. I was watching a show about being off grid and absolutely recognized that I really love my creature comforts. I am not ready to go off grid. That lifestyle is a lot of work and not one that I would find to be a particularly pleasant way to live. Tatauu if I could have figured out an alternative I would have - not a lot of options where I live to go someplace else!

My grandparents did not have an indoor toilet until I was twelve, and while we live in the deep south, we did not venture out after bedtime, but instead used a "pot chambre," which had a cover and sat under our high-set beds; and which had to be carried out, emptied and washed in the morning. Life was very real, from our food sources to our bodily functions. Today we are sheltered from much of basic life, unlike many of our not-so-fortunate neighbors around the world. How lucky we are. So glad you have an indoor toilet Carol.

Shirfleur, I know what you mean. We have so many creature comforts that we take for granted. I do have a number of friends who live 'off grid' and have found ways to make it 'convenient'. I admire them and their dedication to their values. I am honest enough to know that I am not willing to follow in their footsteps. Other parts of my life are closer to the source especially my food although I do not garden or raise animals I have access to garden grown food and home grown meat and fresh eggs. Mostly via family who source their food in that manner. I am grateful for my toilet as the weather took a downward plunge the day after I got my toilet back. -1F.
