brettthibault's Journal, 11 Jan 13

One thing has become clear. Weight loss can be compared to a fully loaded 60'-0" semi-trailer. As it goes downhill toward a bridge, it gains momentum and will continue that way unless the road changes. A curve in the road can be compared to over eating or drinking; a slight curve is an extra beer and a salami submarine sandwich. A hairpin curve is a binge weekend that ends in a wicked hangover and a gain of 6 or 7 pounds. Then there's the bridge out catastrophe. This is a week or more of binge eating and drinking. The truck has to come to a full stop and turn around. It goes back and forth several times to do this--similar to Austin Powers in his little warehouse car in Gold Member. This is like the up and down weight gains and losses when we try to recover. When the truck finally resumes the journey, it's all uphill for a while, and the going is slow until the hill is crested and the truck starts going downhill again toward a new bridge.
