59Carol's Journal, 29 Jun 19

This was quite the two weeks! I went to the North Country Fair and was there for 5 days where I wasn't following my routine eating or exercising regimen plus I was definitely indulging in the homemade treats! Came home and registered a 5 pound gain.

I went back to my routines of drinking water, planning meals and eating well, and exercising regularly. The weight came off pretty quickly which was gratifying.

In the end when all the dust cleared I am 2 pounds down over the two weeks. Maintaining a one pound/week loss! Not bad with that 5 pound gain in the middle!

Yesterday morning CKUA (a public broadcasting station- if you haven't discovered this eclectic station I recommend you check it out! Very unique station. You might want to look at all the programming in case you hit a time that isn't your favorite -- there is everything from classical to jazz to modern to unknowns. It is available free online) did a sponsored hour in honour of my husband. People attending Dave's funeral donated towards it in lieu of flowers. The DJ is a friend of our family's so he brought a personal touch to the hour. The station had interviewed my husband last year and the DJ included a clip of my husband speaking. It was very special hearing my husband's voice on the radio. I danced while listening to the music. My husband would have been so pleased.

Yesterday I had my two grandchildren at the house. We went for sushi, spent time at the SPCA admiring a cat, then we went to the library. When we got back to my home, we played Clue and Settlers of Cattan. I didn't manage to win even one game. Believe me we play to win in my family so I was beat fair and square. It was a pleasant day!

Well done, all the way around :)

Thanks LZenn! I think I am no longer mystified regarding how to lose weight consistently. Thank goodness. For years it felt like 'magic' instead of science! My granddaughter had to choose between her inside rabbit and the new-to-her cat. She has decided to make the rabbit an outside rabbit (outside cage not release into the wild!) so she can adopt the cat. I think the family is relieved as the bunny was pretty hard to keep its area clean.

I'm sorry for the loss of your husband! And happy that you have grandchildren and a busy life to help you move forward.

What a special thing for you. Being able to veer from your WOE for special events is what it is about. Then you just climb right back on the train and keep going. Not living with deprivation makes it so much easier to stay with the LONG TERM PROGRAM. People who are on this journey for medical reasons have a bit of a different scenario to contend with.

When I lived in Alberta all I ever listened to was CKUA. Now that I moved I get it on the satellite. Excellent radio station, that's were I heard my favorite country song, "How Can I Kiss The Lips At Night That Chew My Ass Out All Day Long"

Fatoldlady you made me laugh out loud. Only on CKUA, eh? They are such an eclectic station. Something for everyone! Kenna you are so correct. It is finding a sustainable way of eating. Blips here and there are really nothing so long as they are just blips! You are correct, it is about long term sustainability that matters. Plus I am fortunate not to have medical food issues to contend with. That would put a whole extra level of importance regarding choices. Thank you Erika for your well wishes. As I embark on the next chapter of my life, I truly appreciate my strong network of family and friends.
