So I can't seem to stay in keto.
I stick to the regime check my macros everyday.
But exercise is an issue. I have spondylolethesis and severe disc degeneration and it just gets harder and harder to move. my legs feel like lead weights and the pain just seems to get worse.
so there are days I can't even function.
up in my weight again even though I seem to eat less and less. So frustrating . oh well just need to keep trying .

For my first few months of Keto all I did was walking and I still dropped the weight. Depending on if you are doing clinical Keto or nutritional Keto And what your macros are would affect weight loss Protein is a goal Carbs a limit and fat a lever 50g fat per day for good body health but if you eat all your fat macro then your body has no reason to burn its fat stores for fuel which is what you want

unfortunately walking is the main physical issue. I have little to no feeling left in my legs and feet. I try to stay well under all my consumption levels . no more than 10 %carbs 59 protein and 30 fats at 1800 calorie max. I do normally about 1200 to 1400 daily. thanks for the advice A6evergreen will try harder .

Macros should be calculated in grams not percentage Example mine are 25g carbs 85 to 100g fat (depends on weight loss or maintenance) and 110g protein which you can go over by up to 50% I am also 5’9 and currently 155 lbs, my heaviest I was 240lbs. My husband had back issues too and had L4 to S1 spinal fusion done in 2014. So I know how bad that can get from his experience! Take care of yourself and wish you success in your journey. And honestly I did very little walking those first few months and the pounds still fell off. Just have to have the right macros and lay off too much fat so your body burns it’s stored fat instead!

So sorry about your struggles. You have been doing very well. Eating too little is not great. Body my just hold on to the weight harder and you will struggle more. There is a sweetspot in there. You can fine it. Do not worry about moving. The diet part is the most important part of our weighloss journey

A6evergreen yeah grams lol your right I'm just not so savy lol . as for my back I was born with this but my Dr keeps pushing physio and drugs. I do the physio with no change . it's expensive and useless. but I don't have the funds to pay for fusion and he refuses to put me on the Ahs sponsored list. am now looking for a new Dr. Liv001 yeah I've found it a few times but the frustration pain depression make it hard for me to eat all that food when all I wanna do is curl up and sleep. thank you both so much for the support I never even suspected that there would be such a great community on here. you guys are amazing.

Have you tried the Voxxlife HPT socks..? The Technology in them helped me greatly with leg pain and energy, it's how I got back to the gym. They are amazing! You can get info on them at WearTheTech.ca or I can get ask my rep to email you if you want, seriously best decision I made!

Biking is the workaround I used. My medical issues are spinal, knees and feet. So walking was out. I bought a bike, and after a week of a really sore butt (no joke it hurts a lot at first). It turned into fun, seeing how far I could go each day.

yeah, what liv001 said ☺ if i dont eat enough i dont lose weight. it's a nice weight-loss problem to have, lol.

Thank you for the input everyone. I will try the socks when I find a dealer here at home. Have started that process. As for the biking although I will try it it at some point buying a bike isn't in my budget .as most of my extra funds are alotted for pysio and saving for a very expensive surgery. I have to save for that if I wait for AHS to pay it'll be years on a waiting list. I know I should have followed this up in my 20s but I had bigger fish to fry back then so now at 52 we start all over . I really appreciate all the input so very grateful. Also I will try to eat more.no move in the weight but soldiering on. Have a great day everyone.

I am very grateful to be Canadian - so husband’s surgery was covered by medical and part by workers compensation as part of it was work related accident !!! The physiotherapy program also included a back to work program where it intensifies as you get closer to going back to work

A6evergreen I too am Canadian from Alberta but I have no medical coverage as my job doesn't provide it and because it was not a work Injury wcb will not cover it is genetic . Such is life. Make ends meet and move on forward. Getting a second opinion From another doc who may be more in tune with getting me on the Alberta health care wait list . In the mean time trying to find a good physio therapist to help with the numbing in my legs and feet.

Queenmari3 I wish it was easy for me. With all the med I'm on for pain it numbs my appetite. I literally have to force 1500 Cal. Down my throat. It amazing I don't starve cause I could fast like Gandhi. I don't but I used to go days on just water. And black coffee. And yet I still resemble a puffer fish lol.

I found too that some of the meds made my hubby have no taste sensations everything he said tasted bland even when I knew it was super spicy!! In Canada you have to be able to get same standard of care in every province and Steve’s was part genetic too. If you cannot get into a doc there maybe another province would be faster?

Listen, I have so much arthritis in my knees I can only walk when high. I found a Dr Jason Jung on U-tube, out of Toronto, and have listened to many hours of his lectures on “Intermittent Fasting” and since the end of January I am down 20 kg’s as of this morning, or nearly. It is free and it is cheap and you don’t need to hit the weights or walk Stairs or run anywhere. Just don’t eat. On VaCa now so have switched to a OMAD (one meal a day) routine and still losing weight all but slowly. Look Him up or even intermittent fasting and give it a try.

HI everyone.I do intermittent fasting everyday my first meal is at about 1pm my last by 5pm.then it's just water all day. I'm looking into the socks will get some on payday.am technically off work so money is tight but I'll look into all these options. My legs are numb and my balance is in question.but I still try atound the house where I have walls and railings. I will look into the intermittent fasting doc online. Thanks for all the advice. The neuropathy in my legs has been on going for about five months the spondilolithesis is a lifetime untreated the disc degenerationis ongoing. If I try another province for treatment it is 3 months before I'm eligible for their provincoal health insurance. .either way it's a wait. The level of care is to try rehabilitation for months before they do sugary. But I was recommended 30 years ago that it was my only option. I was stupid and said not until later as I had small babes to carry and the recovery is long. Now the surgeons are back logged and previous gives have cut back on funding considerably. . I will defiantly take all this great advice and run with it do to speak as every bit helps. Thank you everyone for every single tidbit you are all an invaluable support. T

The socks have a tech in them that help with the neuropathy, where is home? I can ask my rep and try and connect you with someone or answer any questions you have by phone if there isn't one close by..it's a newer Canadian company but I know you can purchase right from the WearTheTech.ca site and they ship all over Canada and the US. I don't know if you can message direct on here as I only just realized that my journal entries were public recently... lol. But if there is a way feel free to connect and I will help connect, they really are awesome, never thought socks could help with balance and pain but these ones can... Also have you tried exerercing in a pool to make it easier on the body to start?

Can you change your eating window and have breakfast and lunch instead and plenty of protein at breakfast that is important- eat in daylight, fast in dark. There is a Facebook group called Optimal ketogenic living that is much better than Fung (some of his advice is “ok” but some not...) We didn’t move provinces to get my son’s surgery out of province we just had to go through our provincial and say that we could not get it here and could as standard of care in other one.

A6evergreen it's actually easier for me to eat from 12 noon to 5 pm. I fast after 5 until 12 noon the next day. I'm not a morning person and have never eaten breakfast. I don't know why that us other than I get nauseous every time I try. My mate is a get up at the cracks of ungodly ant eats right away lol he thinks I'm starving myself lol but really I maintained 145 my whole life like that lol its only been in the last 6 months while off work with this stupid dis order that I started emotional eating. I kind of believe that if I listen to my body better this may just be a blip that I have to overcome. I work in construction so I always got plenty of exercise but now not so much. I actually enjoy the fasting.I feel lighter and and mentally sharper.. also I'm a night owl so I don't generally sleep til about 3 am .so my clock is a bit screwy. I lost 2 pounds yesterday and am only now getting hungry so I think maybe this is just how my body is geared.
