Hmmm probably just more gaining food and water back. Or ya know, eating out twice yesterday and having 4 small pieces of fudge lol.

We have two ball tournaments this month and at least 3 other games where there will be nachos. In order to not worry about what I’m eating at the moment I’ve sworn off those treats that I love. I don’t need the extra 300-500 calories and can have 100 calories in mints instead. That means room for real food as I try to see what my maintenance actually is. I’m hoping it’s truly not 1500 for most days. I need to eat more end of story! I’m learning that a lot of my mood and some of the depression is worse the less I eat. Amount of food that is. However I can’t stay full on veggies and I literally feel weak if I don’t get beef even though I had a dr a few years ago tell me I didn’t actually need meat and it was in my head. Every time I start feeling weak I can look through my log and see that I haven’t had beef. My memory sucks since chemo so it’s not like I instinctively remember I haven’t had beef. Lucky us though as this last calf we butchered was really lean! Barely cooks down at all! Based on the store ground beef I’ve been buying I’d say this is between 5-10% fat and 90-95% meat. I’ve been logging as 90/10 and weight wise it cooks down and I lose about 5% of the weight but I know some fat stays in. It also doesn’t leave much grease in the pan. Hopefully the steaks will be the same. I may cook a roast today to see what they are like. Roast is a nice lean cut usually (haven’t bought store roasts but our homegrown beef is lean usually) and filling. Hopefully tender too as the last one wasn’t that tender despite being fattier. Can anyone tell I’m ravenous this morning?

Have your beef and enjoy it!

Everyone has different needs, so go with what makes you feel better. How strange that a "doctor" told you you don't need beef, when it's usually the other way around, women usually don't get enough protein. I know I feel better when I eat beef. You know what you need and you're doing really well with adjusting, even after being sick. Good luck with your plan for eating and dealing with the food at the kids games. 😊

Tyty all. @Becca, it was my oncologist. Basically beef may have been given hormones or eaten grass and hay that was sprayed for weeds and therefore could give me cancer again. Not her exact words but the same idea. It seems cancer survivors should focus on fish and nuts for protein without getting too much fat. Just the smell of fish has had me running before. Ever since I ate it at 12 and was sick all weekend. I did the same on calf fries around the same age but I was told they were sausage balls. That time I was sick immediately and off and on that day then better. My body is sensitive to certain foods and I’m thankful it’s not something like hamburger pizza or broccoli that sets me off lol.

Peeper, that completely makes sense. Ironically, I got sick to my stomach today. While trying to deal with a migraine, I involuntarily lost all of my ground beef patties that I ate today. So, I know nothing. 😕

Oh no! I hope the migraine is gone! I get them but it’s light and sound sensitivity for me and I only feel nauseous if I let it go too long. They haven’t made me sick yet though. 3-4 hours sleep after 3-4 Advil and it’s usually back to a normal headache.
