You know, I have always eaten socially or with family, even at times when I was not hungry.
I would politely eat a meal, because I felt awkward.
What would I do while they ate.
You can imagine.
Now I am considering focusing on what I want.
And I want to only eat when I am hungry, even when I feel awkward.
Hopefully I can keep it up.
64.5 kg Lost so far: 3.0 kg.    Still to go: 14.6 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

I know what you mean! I’ve had to struggle with that, too. I think eating together is a very primal thing for people. It’s something that brings us together. When I started cooking for myself different dishes from that of my husband, he noticed that even though we ate together, it felt weird eating different things. But eventually we both got used to it. Listening to what you want should definitely be a priority, and practice makes perfect. For me, having a cup of water, tea or coffee has always helped avoid food when not hungry in a hungry company ;-)
