I like IF too. I can't eat anything, but it definitely allows me more options.

Sorry, I like food and I like to eat.

Congratulations! I am starting IF today. Previously I have been doing 'extended fasting' but now my weight has gotten to low to continue to do it.

Which variation are you doing? I think I can handle the 5:2

Hey junius_! I recently started IF. I believe it was like mid June.

lindaml1 & Bean58: IF is changing to when you eat rather than what you eat. By practicing intentional fasting, you allow your digestive system and body to rest from processing food. This frees up your gut to process the stubborn fat and locked-in protein that we carry around, especially in our belly area. Your body also goes through purification of your hormones and other metabolic processes. I do daily fasting of about 16-18 hours. I'm no longer hangry because my hormones are balancing out, and I get to eat whatever I want and still lose weight. It's pretty amazing. After years of calorie counting, I finally feel free.

Kenna Morton. I'm confused. What are you sorry about? And I love love love to eat, too!! I think that's why I am really digging this intermittent fasting strategy. When ,my feasting window opens, I get to eat and eat and eat without worrying about how many calories I am eating. I have a 6-7 hour feasting window every day, and I literally stuff my face until my body is full. I do this 2 or 3 times a day. It's weight loss heaven. <3

adefwebserver: Congrats to you too! I've never done extended fasting. I heard that extended fasts are good when you are at or near your goal weight, and that intermittent fasting is better for long term weight loss. But I know that everyone's body reacts differently, so it's good to hear about your experience. The longest i have ever fasted is 22 hours, and that wasn't intentional. Do you do multiple days at a time, or are you doing the 24 hour fasting a few times a week, adefwebserver?

Hey cateyes1002! I am doing the daily fasting. I started with the 16:8, which is 16 hours of fasting and 8 hours of feasting. I've experimented with a lot of festing windows, going as low as 3 hours with the One-Meal-A-Day style. But that didn't work out for me too well. My body is most happy with 17:7, so I try to stay around that. I though about 5:2, but I don't know if I can handle calorie restriction any more. I've been on the weight loss wagon for so many years, and my body is unhappy with that way of being. But I think everyone should do what is best for them, cateyes1002. If 5:2 makes you happy, do it. :D

Thanks Diea for the info on IF. I'm gonna start tomorrow. I've tried to loose for the past year and it seems this menopause weight doesn't want to go. I'd like to loose about 90lbs.

Diea—I guess the part I’m sorry about is the need to “stuff ny face until my body is full— 2 to3 times a day.”. I guess I don’t even know what to say to that, but I think that is probably the wisest road for me to take anyway. Best of luck to you.

Agree. Use IF as a tool now in maintenance too. Powerful stuff.

Hey Bean, best of luck! I know that there are people who have lost over 100 pounds with IF, and hopefully it works well for you. I would believe it might since IF helps balance out a whole slough of hormones and adrenals, and you are particularly worried about menopause weight. Let me know how it goes! Also, everyone seems to have different walls to climb the first week(s) of IF, so just hang in there and know that whatever you go through is the just a hump before weight loss heaven.
