Day #22 of summer holidays.;-)

Staying at sister’s place on the North Shore and taking care of my mom has been awesome.:) Long, lazy days and easy conversations over meals, food prep, dishes (no dishwasher), and watering thousands of patio containers lol. Sister’s new 2 bdrm condo is conveniently situated close to my former family home where my kids are until the divorce is settled and I have my own place. It’s been wonderful having them less than 5 mins away!!! Lol encouraging sister to take some extra days.;-)

My youngest son (13) got back last Sunday from a road trip with my ex and his brother (17) to West Edmonton Mall…sadly with concussion, vomiting, and diarrhea (which lasted 3 days straight). Has been so fatigued! Our doctor thinks it could have been the fish my son ate at the food court, and should have his test results back from the lab today. Yesterday finally he was feeling better …Poor guy has been a real trooper drinking only fluids all this time. Grateful to keep a close eye on him!!! He and I managed to see Ice Age 3 in 3D at the cinema Wed. evening… some good gags and decent special effects. Lol best part was just watching him laughing and enjoying it.;-)

Meanwhile hoping to go on a cycling holiday with my sons… managed to find a hybrid bicycle the other day!!! Had been looking at different ones in MANY places last week and finally decided to buy the first one I’d seen lol.... It is a solid, entry level Raleigh with 21 gears, and shocks that can be switched off for cruising the streets. The sale price, its colour (gold) and padded seat were the selling point for me.; -) Now checking out bike racks and a hitch for the car. Last night managed to go on my first bike ride since FOREVER. BF took me all around the Univ. of BC campus. Gorgeous setting sun, myriad small, quiet streets, regal buildings, quaint courtyards, and here and there creeping ivy, trailing roses, and fountain displays. We had some decent uphills and plenty of fresh air. Love how the bike handled!!! Lol at the end of our ride, did not want to get off except that my glutes were sore.;-) Hope to go for a long ride again ASAP.;-)

Really great to be living on the North Shore this week. :)) Have been running the West Vancouver seawall in the mornings as much as possible. The seawall starts at Ambleside Park where the Capilano River empties into the Georgia Strait. From there the Seawall runs past Ambleside Beach to the community of Dundarave. Located directly across from Stanley Park, the views of the park, Lions Gate Bridge, and ocean are extraordinary. It is literally only a few feet above the ocean waves. Occasionally incredibly strong wind storms have sent debris and large waves crashing on the seawall! But West Vancouver takes great care ensuring the Seawall is well maintained morning, noon, and night, and its perennials lining the path do very well.;-)

Looks to be soggy today continuing over the weekend though. This morning might have to exercise indoors at the gym with weights and the elliptical. Cannot believe how strong the quads get on that cardio machine! Legs feel like rocks.;-)

So sorry my visits to journals have been so irregular! Have been thinking of you all warmly and hope to catch up some more today. May all my buddies stay healthy and happy. God bless your day.:)

I agree with Glen, you should write travel guides. Your descriptions always make me want to visit the area. Good to hear you are enjoying the time with your mama and your children. I'm surrey your sister is enjoying her vacation as well. The bike sounds nice, looking for a new one myself. Until I find one I need to invest in a new gel seat because the seat on this done KILLS me! Have a wonderful weekend! Lauren

Glen: good to hear your Iowa vacation is starting. Sounds like a blast! Hope you have a wonderful time:) Yes please, more pics! Love those.:) Must remember to use my phone camera for pics...my Cannon film SLR wouldn't be helpful.;-) Lauren: Not counting a one-day bike rental last year, have not been on a bike since Grade 8. Lol a long time! Cannot believe the feeling of freedom and lightness.:) Gel seats definitely sound like a good investment.;-)
