No food recording —or wt for the next two days. I’m a guest in the home of friends and not in control of the meal situation. I don’t have the heart to say VELVETA CHEESE AND HAMBURGER HELPER ARE NOT REAL FOODS. it won’t kill me but I will sure be glad to get back to my own food. Has anyone ever heard of putting potato chips and 3 pieces of cheese on your grilled cheese? Um-um good? I can feel my heart seizing up now.

Good luck - luckily, I'm sure your arteries will survive for just two days of "food-like substances" (I can't take credit for that phrase, I read it somewhere on FS). :) I've heard of chips WITH grilled cheese - and I saw a chef put what looked like a quarter pound of cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich (but that was TV!)...

It was new to me as well. I grew up on VELVETA and Campbell’s tomato soup. Theses are wonderful older people (even older than me) and I wouldn't hurt their feelings for the world. They have a timeshare in San Diego and they invited me to stay for a couple days.. I could only go for one night though. I did bring food to contribute but she said take it home, I have meals covered. Oh woe.

Ah, my mil is a member of that generation - she is a firm believer in feeding the people she loves... Unfortunately she is also a member of the Julia Childs school of cooking (butter is GOOD! heavy cream is GOOD!). Her feelings get hurt if one doesn't accept seconds... One day of bad eating is better than hurting the feelings of someone I love dearly... I assume one day won't hurt my cholesterol levels... :)
