Happy Hump Day - I re-weighed this morning and my new weight held!

Found some new tricks to try to keep my calories under control. One discovery - Am diluting all of my creamy salad dressings with unsweetened almond milk and/or Greek yogurt. I actually prefer them that way, but DH - not so much. Have to keep 2 of everything in my refrigerator.

If anyone has any other tricks to pass on - I am all ears!

Nice hold there on the lower weight Buffy! Salad dressings are a funny thing - I know when I started I thought there is just now way I will give up my salad dressing - but you find with calorie counting some things just have to give. So I started eating "naked" salad, at first it was not great, but now I don't like dressing on my salad - as I find now when you have dressing, everything just tastes like the dressing instead of getting the individual flavours of each ingredient...sometimes we just need to format our tastebuds back to basics....

Buffy thats a great idea..I had been using water..but almond milk would make it seem more creamy..I use Ken's buttermilk ranch..its low in carbs too..Great job on sticking with it girl..Proud of you..:O)

Ohhhh la LA....161 @ Holding....YEAH! Plus, I love that idea of yours for diluting the dressings, way better than switching to the low fat ones, those can be awful!

Good tip on the salad dressings, I've never tried almond milk, since I've given up milk since doing atkins, what's it taste like ?

Tracy - the benefit of eating veggies with dressings (containing a fat and protein) is that it will slow the rate you absorb the veggies - or in other words - it lowers the glycemic value of the veggies. This keeps our blood sugar stable. I just have to learn to do this with as few calories as possible.

Bren - I just love Kens - it has so much flavor that you can dilute it and it still tastes great!

Lisa Kay - I think if I just use my brain I'll find lots of uses for that Almond Milk!

GG - Thanks! Usually the "Lite" dressings are filled with sugar and starch - so they are not really light!

As I mentioned in my journal, I'm not particularly fond of the Greek Non-fat yogurt, but I could see mixing it with something like ranch or creamy italian dressing. It's certainly one way to boost up the protein without the added calories.

Notfast - It tastes like a watery milk, but it mixes well with other stuff. I mix it with cream for my coffee and in smoothies. Make sure you get the unsweetened.

DairyKing - This fat old lady needs all the breaks she can get.

I like your humor, but anyone can see that you are 'not' a fat old lady! :) That's as far as I'm going to go; don't want to agitate DH! :)

random comment here as we're not buddies, but it came up as some buddies commented here. 16 oz Nonfat plain greek yogurt + a packet of hidden valley ranch salad dressing mix is a great ranch dip. A little thick for salad dressing but its delicious!

Bkeller1023 - Glad to meet you. I forget about those packets. Bet that would be good.

Tracy - PS - I intended to add that I admire your willpower in being able to "format" your taste buds. This is something I need to be doing with a lot of foods - maybe some day I'll even be drinking black coffee!
