Have you ever wondered just what you should be doing? I find myself thinking that there must be more to work than I am getting out of my job. Yet I have a decent job, so I don't have any motivation to do anything else.
See what I mean about my jumping ahead? I know that I have to get my daughter through months of senioritis - I have to start working my night project to get back into the construction season - I have to work on being single. Yet I keep planning what I am going to NEXT year after all this is over, without really planning what I am going to do NOW.
I had a good day with food, despite the fact that I forgot my lunch that I packed last night. Oh wait, no I didn't. I also had chicken from McDonalds, and fries! Drat. I'll add that and my calories will be up and up! Eventually the numbers will drive me to cut out some of what I eat and I will start losing again - I can just feel it.

No exercise, bad food. I felt good today though.

Abba, I know exactly what you are talking about. I got tired of working at a job that I was supposed to "love" but didn't feel fulfilled at the end of the day. That's when I started a year long search for what I wanted. I finally found it (thank you internet) and did a job shadowing for a day. I immediately set to work at getting the education I needed and here I am 2 years later; settled into my new career and LOVING IT! Luckily I already had my BS in Biology/Chemistry so I didn't have to do much except take 1 more class and then do a specialist school for a year. It was a rough year---that's why I gained 20lbs! But I am so happy to walk into work everyday! It's never too late to start searching and you can do whatever you set your mind to! And the food...it looks like you are doing good to me! Just keep it up. Something that I learned at a weight loss seminar last week.....Hunger is your friend when you want/need to lose weight. You SHOULD always be a little bit hungry. Just remember that when you feel that way, you are burning up that fat! :)

I am lucky too because I have a job I love and I enjoy being at work. I do understand what you are saying though sometimes it seems that our lives are all about work and the people we work with but lets face it that is where we are most of our waking hours. That's life for us. That's why I am a planner. I like to plan things ahead and make mini goals so I have something to look forward to. It keeps life interesting and seems to give me more purpose. As far as the eating I ate horrible yesterday and I'm sure I'll be paying for it. I have not been on the scale yet today but I am already paying in guilt. lol

I think we often focus on the future. I know I do it too. The problem is that we don't live our lives living for or in the future. AND we do not focus on the problem at hand-then end up "putting out fires" because of it. The lives we have now are often not the one we imagine but I think, as you are realizing, it is important to live in today. Mindfulness is about living in the moment. Practicing it is tough though! :)

You feel good and that is wonderful. I think we all have the moments you described ... especially as things are changing so much around us. You'll find your groove again ... you just have SO MUCH going on!!!
