Today I was going to write about some things that I have been thinking about, but instead I have this thought: Gee whiz, I eat a ton of food if I don't stop myself. Next stop is the sidewalk for a good walk and I'll give myself a stern talking to about what the heck I am eating!

My dad lost 10 pounds this summer - his doctor told him he could lower his blood pressure and cut out the medicine he's taking if he could lose 10 pounds, so he did. Tsk. Just like that! Ok, he concentrated his focus on cutting calories and sodium. Because that is how you lose weight - like it's easy. He is very logical and methodical.

On the one hand I have my mother's love of food which makes it easy to eat anything, low fat, vegan, Atkins, blah blah blah. But on the other hand I love food and lie to myself that it's worth it to cheat on my(self!) and my diet.

Psst...hey you...over here...yeah that's right...come over here in this dark little corner and I will tell you something...Many of us love food...for many of us out there THAT is why diets don't work! Don't tell that I said it! No one else can know...ok? Here's the thing...it is not as much about the food as the amount of it and eating when we are not actually hungry...at least for me any how...your mileage may vary...but I gotta tell ya...this is how I have lost and kept it off...not that I am losing A LOT overnight or anything...on the contrary...it has been a long road but I keep saying that at least I am not losing fast and gaining back so it is all good! Ok...on your way...you take it as you see fit...just my little ole opinion and all... ;)

Your post makes me wonder why we eat foods that we know - in our minds - is not healthy. My theory is that we crave FLAVOR - not just flavor in the literal way food tastes - but flavor in our lives. For me personally I have to seek out something flavorful BESIDES food. Food stimulates us but sedates us at the same time. Does that observation make sense? Thursday I had Wendy's chili. It was spicey one minute and sleepy the next. Last night I had Noachos Belle Grande from Taco Bell. They had the same effect. Instead - I should have enjoyed stimulating and colorful fashion, films, conversation, work, the great outdoors, creative projects, or mini travel. That second option is what I plan to do today. Let's do this together - okay? Okay! Love ya!

CORRECTION - Foods that we know - in our minds - ARE not healthy. The word "foods" is a plural subject that requires a plural verb! my bad!

I see Poet is back to correcting her journal entries again ... she must be feeling like her "old" (and I use that term only in a figurative sense) self again!!! LOL!!! Abba ... I'm with you ... I'm a food lover!!! But, and this is just me okay? Sometimes I EAT and I'm not really lovin' the food ... I'm eating just to eat ... or for other reasons. When I truly do track what I am doing ... and then plan for those indulge moments of truly enjoying my food it is much better for me. That said ... I do envy people for whom it appears it is very simple for them just to shed a few pounds. You are doing fine ... this is YOUR journey and the way YOU process. There is not a RIGHT way ... there are many paths to wellness!!! Have a great day ... move your body and think about what you are doing!!!
