kattay's Journal, 25 Aug 15

I have been slacking in the food and exercise department in the last couple of days. A few things going on. Watched the 2 older GK yesterday and 2 of their friends. For the most part it was a lot of fun. Too many carbs/calories. Trying to reconstruct my food for the days with them is daunting. I know it isn't good.

DD is stressed out over getting wedding stuff straight (Sept 12 is the day), working full time, keeping up with GS ball practices. Her aunt on her Dad's side was admitted to the hospital yesterday.

Her aunt is basically alone, except for one sister she usually doesn't get along with, a few friends and my DD. Four siblings, parents and parent's siblings have passed away. So DD will have to have power of attorney like she did for the other sister and her dad before they passed. It was all put on her shoulders. Her dad never remarried and these two sisters were unmarried. Of course, I help where I can. This Aunt is in the hospital with cancer that started in breast which was supposed to be gone after surgery and chemo. Now in bones and brain. She has diabetes. Body systems are failing. She had fallen at her home, broke her foot and pelvis. While in rehab to get mobile again, things started to go swiftly down hill. I hadn't seen these aunts in years until about 4 years ago, after the one had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, the same as an older sister who passed. Docs are trying to get her stabilized. This aunt is 7 years younger than I am. We are all in shock on how fast this has happened.

On a happier note, I will be watching GK these two weeks before school starts and after school. Their dad will have them when DD is on honeymoon. So far that is the plan. They have been going to the Y. Now the older one is too old for the groups. I love being with them so I am really looking forward to spending time with them. Of course, DD is making the list...getting homework done, reading book chapters, taking showers, etc. Love it!! We should still have time for some fun. Being around young people will keep you young ...or make you old before your time! I will have to work hard to keep calories under 1200!

Update for my records: DD's aunt lost the battle August 27. We found out she, like her mom and sister, passed at age 56. Very sad. Other sister passed at 48.

Always fun with the GK around! *prayers* for all those fighting the fight. My father lost his Jan 13,2011 to Liver cancer. It is a hard fight to watch.

Thank you Pterath. The aunt lost her fight tonight. I was there with my DD. Very hard. So sorry for your loss. So hard when close loved ones pass.
