schmetterling34's Journal, 06 Jul 15

Gooseberries, juicy peaches, ripe bananas and yellow pears til lunch today.

Had courgettes, peas, carrots, lettuce, spinach, radishes, raspberries and strawberries over the weekend. All from the garden. So tasty. My little bit of heaven :)

Soon the broadbeans will be ready. Potatoes and melons are still a while of.

I do love summer.

Soon it will be time for the pheasants again. Started to get the pen ready for them. Talk about grafting.

Its overcast today and I am moody. I think my hormons are out of wack. Can't wait for this phase of my life to pass. Hate being irrational and emotional.

Wow! That sounds amazing. I live in the low desert where basically we can grow citrus fruits, cactus (cactii?) and weeds. I'm jealous. Enjoy the "fruits" of your labors. 😀

Glen - we get about 700 pheasants at 9 weeks old. Hardest part is keeping the predetors at bay. Badgers, foxes, owls, buzzards, you name it. Have you ever seen pheasant chicks - they look like some prehistoric bird, really pecuilar :)

Ok....now I see how you get all those steps in! All that keeps you on the go for sure. Sounds great though.

LOL....more a country bumpkin than a farmer :) But that is my dream. I would really be at home on a farm! 'We' don't do anything with the pheasants, but come November the shooting season starts.......Do I need to tell you more? Its a lucrative business. At least the birds are raised outdoors and have a fair change to escape and survive. We do have plenty of 'old' birds.

I used to have a Brittany Spaniel - "Grizzly", was a great bird dog and great friend. Had good times with him.
