Fritzy 22's Journal, 04 Mar 23

Got up this morning and it wasn't freezing in the house! I usually turn the heater down to 47 at night and it's usually about 50-51 in the morning. I had turned the thermostat down from 65 (as high as I ever set it) to 60 and then forgot about it last night. I knew it was supposed to rain today starting late morning so got outside for a walk with Bobby around 7:45. Had hoped to walk at least 45 minutes, maybe an hour, but it was just too cold with the wind blowing. Managed 35 minutes.

All the lousy weather has given me time to get used to not having Dish Satellite TV and figuring out the Amazon Fire Stick. It sure will save me a lot of money every month. My Dish plan had gone up to about $130 a month. Now I just use streaming services. I already have Amazon Price and get money from that back just in free shipping. I signed up for 2 services for $9.99 each. On one I get my local NBC channel so I can watch the local news channel I've been watching since about 1994. The other might be CBS,I'm not sure. Both have so many shows, old and not so old. Still getting used to it. The only thing I have to get better at is changing to another channel or another show.

Tomorrow is the day I post my weight. Not looking forward to I because I know I haven't lost.

We dumped dish in December of 2020 as it was way too expensive and not worth it. We are thinking of getting a Fire Stick too.

Thanks Morticia. I am enjoying the volumes of shows available. I mostly just need the noise in the house.

Thanks Lucy I subscribed to Peacock because it carries my local news station which is on about 7 hours everyday during the week. It also has so many shows I haven't found them all. It always shows the Hallmark Channel but not sure if it's on a schedule. I also got Paramount Plus be cause it has the old Star Trek shows. Not sure how I got hooked on them, but I did.

You are sturdier than me on the heat. 60 at night is about as low as I can tolerate it. We use Roku, but don't subscribe to anything as there's plenty of free stuff we're happy with. Mostly it's YouTube videos, and for me, it's mostly to lull myself to sleep

I don't do well in the cold. Luckily we live in an older house that has a wood burning fireplace and we have a fire almost every night.

Thanks Writingwyo. I'm okay with furnace off at night. I have 2 heated blankets I can use, plus more pets than I need cuddling up against me. I feel the cold more during the day. There does seem to be lots and lots of free stuff streaming. I'm still figuring it all out. I do like no commercials!

Thanks Diana, I would rather deal with the cold than the temps over 100 in the summer. But both are challenging. Before I bought the house the was a stove in the family room for heat. I think it was gas. I've thought about get a new one.
