One of my guilty pleasures for breakfast today - 2 frozen waffles, butter, and syrup. Nearly 600 calories - Yikes! Scary to think I used to routinely eat 6 of those at a sitting.
I guess I am gradually reworking some of my attitudes about “what’s an appropriate amount” after all.

Sounds good, but with my hypoglycemia I can't do waffles or cereal for breakfast. Makes my blood sugar bottom out. Enjoy and you can figure out how to work that into your meal plan for the day.

Add a good bit of protein to that meal and it will help fight off cravings throughout the day, according to some studies. Greek yogurt, meat, egg, etc. 😉

I totally relate to this! It’s become a different mindset to prioritize and plan for the indulgences I feel are “worth it” 😊 But kudos for the change from 6 to 2…that’s amazing!

Calories aren’t the ‘evil’ we once thought they were, it’s the added sugar. Try replacing the syrup with fresh fruit. While fruit does contain sugar, it’s natural as opposed to refined. Fruit also has many nutritional values, including fibre. You could also swap out the butter, which is high in unhealthy fat and has little nutritional value, with a delicious, nutritious, organic almond butter! Best of luck to you! 😊

Thanks everyone! This meal is a 3-4 times yearly indulgence only; so I have it - and enjoy it - just the way it is. Comments regarding increased nutrition are nonetheless appreciated and will be incorporated into other meals!

I found tracking helps us just be more aware of how much calories we actually are consuming. When you know better you do better. Most of the time😉
