Fritzy 22's Journal, 17 Nov 22

I might have too many tempting sweets in the garage freezer. Thought I was doing okay with it but today wasn't so good. I have a hard time this time of year. It gets dark just after 5pm. When it's dark I want to go to bed. I've been falling asleep somewhere around 7 to 9pm then wake up between 3 or 4am. I'm starving when I wake up because I do IF and finish eating anywhere from noon to 2pm or so. This morning I thought maybe I'd have my coffee and also one of the ice cream drumsticks from the garage freezer. But when I looked at the calories for the drumstick (in the 250-350 calorie range) I decided to have a molasses cookie - 170 calories with my coffee instead. But then it gets worse. Took Bobby for one of our longer walks. I know people want longer and further than I do but this was about an hour and a half and I was really tired by the time I got home. AND I WANTED A DRUMSTICK SO BAD!! So I had. And the rest of the day I've been thinking about the sweets in the freezer. So far I've stayed away but did have the last of the leftover roast just to fill me up. I only want to have those sweet treats once, twice a week at the most and not 2 in the same day. So I took out one of the bagels from the bakery department that was in my freezer. Will have 1/4 toasted bagel with my coffee tomorrow morning. Don't want a repeat of today.

Didn't put Bobby's vest on him this morning. I think he will get too warm in it unless it's one of those cold mornings when the water in the bird bath is frozen. That hasn't happened yet.

Yesterday I had about a half dozen robins running all over my front yard bank. Never have robins. They don't go to feeders, at least not mine. I think they just look for worms. But it was fun to see them.

Maybe you've veered off from the summertime eating plan, where you roasted veggies like Brussel sprouts (full of fiber to fill you up) and ate frozen grapes for dessert. Maybe peel and chop up a squash and roast that, or pop a sweet potato in the microwave for 6 minutes (flip over at the 3 minute mark) and then just slice it -- no need for butter, just enjoy it as is. How about a russet potato diced up and added to your tomato soup? Apples are in season now, and those are a great breakfast or snack food.

Thanks Bananas I had been stir frying Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and asparagus in my electric wok. Now that its cold I can use my oven more. I like to slice and roast yams. I keep forgetting I have grapes in the freezer. I do love to roast Brussels sprouts as well

I feel the same way. Not enough day light and it's too cold. I feel like it is always night time and it drags me out. I am hungry a lot. We have too many sweets here too and they are too much of a temptation.

It’s hard this time of year. Between the holidays, cold weather and dark early. Easy to want comfort food. Probably good thinking to be colder to put the jacket on Bobby. My robins are gone but only eat off the ground when they are here. I have a squirrel that bounces off the tree to the feeder two feet away and hangs and eats. This all just started after years. So after lawncare finishes my final yard cleanup next week I will move the feeder far out away from the tree. Enjoy your day!:)

Someone once told me that your taste buds don't actually taste a food after 3 bites of that food so have you tried cutting the drumsticks in half when you want one? I always do that and tell myself that I can always eat the rest later. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Also had a nutrition expert say eat what you are craving because your brain response is more than half the battle in meeting calories. Good luck, I know it isn't easy!
