Fritzy 22's Journal, 08 Nov 22

I get tired of down .4 pounds one day, up .6 pounds the next day, then down .6, etc, etc. It always happens when I get into the next "decade" of pounds. I get to 189.8 and then I'm back up over 190 for 1 or 2 days, then back down, then up again. And I don't think I'm doing anything wrong with my eating. I pay attention to calories, protein and fat. Probably having too much fat since adding pumpkin seeds to my daily food for protein and also because it's the time of year I actually will cook. But I really work on portion control. I cooked a pot roast in the crock pot. Put it on around 3pm yesterday and it cooked all night on low. It's still cooking. I added carrots about an hour ago and potatoes a few minutes ago. It's a boneless chuck roast from Costco. I can't believe how much grease was floating at the top this morning when I checked it. I skimmed over a cup of grease out. I know chuck roast is very fatty.

I didn't walk yesterday because it was garbage truck day and I had errands to run in the next town. I went to the grocery store, Raley's. I gave in and bought a box of drumsticks in the ice cream isle. They were on sale for $5 Monday. Last time I saw them they were actually $10 for a box. Then in the bakery department I bought molasses cookies make there. They are my favorite. My goal is to eventually get to a place where I can have sweets or salty snacks available for the times I really, really want something without going crazy and eating it all within a day or two. They are in the freezer in the garage. Late yesterday I thought about having one cookie with my hot chocolate then decided against it. I had finished up the last of the toaster strudels for breakfast. One thing off my plan was enough for the day. I stayed within my calories so didn't feel bad about the strudel but I need to be able to limit not so healthy foods. I'm actually up about .4 pounds since yesterday. So I am "planning" on only having one of the snacks when I have lost weight, maybe each new low. That's the plan, but check with me tomorrow to see if any cookies are left. I think the ice cream drumsticks are safe on such a cold and rainy day. Poor Bobby didn't walk yesterday and probably won't walk today unless it stops raining. It rained all night and is still raining. He won't even go outside when it's raining. I asked him if he wanted to go "potty" this morning and he just looked at me like I was crazy. Finally I got him to go out because I put on my coat and hood and went out with him. I guess if I'm brave enough he can be too!

Don't know if I mentioned it but one of my bucks was back yesterday! A huge one, I couldn't even count all the points on his antlers. I've missed him and his brothers, cousins, dad.

Oh! The pain in my butt is gone! Not talking about a boyfriend or my sister or Marco my cat (he's always a pain). But the pain that made me think I shouldn't walk until it healed. It was better yesterday and probably even more better today since I took it easy most of yesterday.

Update: It has been raining all day. No break for a quick walk. And it will be dark soon so that's 2 days in a row without a walk!

I am ok with portion control, I just get carried away with variety. I can have cookies in the house and only eat a little, but I will have no willpower to cut back anywhere else so I go over my total. I miss having a dog but I don't miss walking them!

Fritzy. This is coming from someone who has lost a lot of weight very quickly. Looking at your food journal. The pot roast is not your problem. I would add some greens to your daily food intake. Green veggies and salad. Or cucumber, celery, radishes or tomatoes as a snack and cut out some of your bagel and bread and you will see your weight drop. Good luck.

Thanks Abba - I have to be able to have some treats in the house but need to be able to resist eating them all as soon as I buy them. So far so good. The cookies and drumsticks are still in the freezer in the garage! Thanks golfmarina - I know I need to eat more vegetables. I don't eat salads at home, or rarely. I thought I did good with the carrots and onion cooked with the roast. I try to eat low fat so that is why I am concerned about the portion of the roast. It is very high in fat although I skimmed off about a cup of grease after cooking in the crock pot. 1/4 to 1/2 bagel isn't bad. I lost over 50 pounds in 7 months a few years ago and recently lost about 10 pounds in just over a month. I know the weight will come off!

I think you are doing great, Fritzy! I get the frustrations over the scale going up and down ... mine must be friends with yours. Ha Ha! It's part of the journey. Just keep doing what you are doing. It's good you don't deprive yourself, too. Those drumsticks are there when you feel like its okay to work one into your daily budget. You got this!

Thanks Mom - I know it really gets down to "bodily functions". Sometimes after I weigh myself in the morning I wonder if I should wait to pee one more time so I can weigh again before coffee! Awhile back I weighed myself once a month to stop worrying so much about fractions of pounds every day. I may try that again. The drumsticks are really a test. Last time I bought a box I ate them all within 2 days. Luckily we are having a cold spell and it's too cold to walk all the way down the garage steps to get to the goodies in the freezer and too cold for ice cream! But I feel good about goodies going untouched for 2 days, going on 3.
