SherrieC's Journal, 23 Mar 15

Good Monday morning all, I hope that you had a nice weekend. I have a question and I am sure you can help me. Yesterday, I had made some homemade potato cakes. Now from the recipe, I got most of the nutrition facts.

I am not sure how to put it in my food chart what each serving is. It showed that the recipe is (4 servings per recipe )I am a little slow at times (lol). I did put what the recipe said, but still not sure how to break it down.

Can someone please help me out with this stupid question. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Sherrie

Go to your cook book here on Fat Secret and add a recipe. You will add each ingredient as you put it in your recipe and how many servings are in the total recipe. The program will give you the nutrition facts for a serving. Submit the recipe and it will be in your cook book. You can then click on ad to my food diary and it will put 1 serving in your diary. If you have more than one serving, then just change that in your food diary.

Sometimes it is so hard to get an accurate breakdown when trying to record your food, due to the variance in a recipe. What i try to do is find the exact food or product i am consuming, or find something close. And go with the numbers...i was driving myself crazy trying to be exact, just do the best you can and over estimate when in doubt! good luck!

I have donewhat you say iulani - do my best and over-estimate if necessary!

I agree with the above members/ That sounds like a good plan to get the closest accuracy you can. As most of my buddies know, I am not home cook chef so my calorie counting for the most part is easy. Sherri, Iulani idea is great idea, from your Journals, its sounds like you do alot of your own cooking (Which is great) but sometimes calorie counting can be tricky in those cases.
