Johanne's Journal, 25 Sep 22

I have been having a rough time since my knee replacement in March. It has healed and the actual joint is no longer in pain but the structure around the joint is still painful. I had dementia testing done in March as well. I felt as if my memory was really failing. Along with the testing, they did a brain MRI. Apparently, my brain and mental acuity are just fine for a 78 year old woman. You couldn’t prove it by me. I’m simply not as sharp as I used to be. I’m losing words and my conversation has become halting because of it. If this is my new normal, it’s aggravating! I’m used to having acceptional acuity and I don’t now.

Along with the continued post-surgery knee pain and numbness, my other knee is deteriorating and I had COVID for the second time, the middle of July. I’m, apparently, suffering “long COVID”. That didn’t happen when I had it in December. That is also annoying.

The upshot is, I’m having a very hard time getting my head back into the game, or really even caring. My WOE is totally out the door. I don’t have the energy or the stamina to make the foods I used to, to make my freezer “ready meals” that used to help me stay on track. I’m kind of a mess.

I’m going to try to get back in the game. It’s everything from proper personal care, to getting out of my pajamas in the morning, to making proper meals. It’s a bit of everything. 😕

wishing you the best of luck. I'm 67, and vitamin D4 + magnesium + potassium supplements helped me with brain fog.

I have had both knees replaced and still have peripheral pain and numbness in both even though they were done in 2009 and 2010. It is a tough surgery to recover from but long term physical therapy is a must. Try to stay positive and it does get better. You have encountered several obstacles but slow and steady wins the race!

I agree with OldCatLady but be careful with taking to much vitamin D. I took it daily during pandemic. Never got COVID but to much Vitamin D caused some health issues for me. It's not like vitamin C where you expell any overages. To much isn't a good thing!💜

Statins have a side effect of causing memory loss in women. If you are taking these for cholesterol-lowering purpose, it's another reason to rein in the excessive eating and saturated fats, and get off statins. Thanks everyone. I’m trying to pull it together. Yes, I have many friends. I do puzzles, like the NYT Spelling Bee. I design complex weaving patterns, etc. I’m doing everything right but the motion and healthy diet. I have to get back to it! I’m working on it.

Diana 1234, I have the supplements I take tested every time I have a blood draw, about every 4 months, and adjust them accordingly. I’m really careful with my meds of any kind. Thanks for caring! ❤️
