Fritzy 22's Journal, 23 Jul 22

It's so hot outside. Went outside and did just about 5 minutes of watering some of the plants and had to come inside. Made sure the water bucket was full because the deer and even the wild turkeys seem to be panting. The bird bath is getting lots of activity too.

Last year I thought I was going to move. Got my house all ready to put up for sale, painting the inside and outside, getting new flooring. Then I couldn't find a place to buy. Still not sure when I will be able to move now that mortgage rates have doubled from last year. I had packed up the house and have about 40 boxes in the garage. I still have things in the house I need on a daily basis. But I've decided to go through all the boxes in the garage to see if there are things I really don't need. I figure if I haven't needed it for a year, maybe I should just get rid of it. I'm trying to go through at least 3 boxes a day. So far there is more I want to keep than give away but I have at least 2 boxes of odds and ends to take to the thrift store.

Tomato soup again for dinner. Not motivated to do any cooking and I hate turning the oven on in the summer.

Soup sounds good and easy! Great idea going through your boxes in the garage. My birdbath was getting low but we got a really hard rain today and filled it up. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!:)

thanks otb - I don't think the heat will break until late September at the earliest! Thanks Navywife - I am keeping more out of my boxes than I expected. I had a box of cardigan sweaters that are really old but I've kept them because I love cardigans. I thought I would take them all to the thrift store but I had to keep about half of them. I often pour ice in the bird bath early in the day and it melts quickly but the birds can get a refreshing drink or bath and not be in a hot tub. The blue jays love to splash around in it. Hope you are having a nice weekend - I would love a rainy day. I am mostly staying inside but going through the boxes is keeping me busy.

At least you are downsizing the boxes even though you are keeping a lot. Oh, thanks for mentioning the ice in the birdbath. I would not have thought of that. We needed the rain but it got quite stormy and heavy storms get to me a bit. They didn't used to bother me. Not sure what happened. We had a tornado warning the other night. That was way too much for me. lol

I'm the same way in the summer. I can no longer handle the heat the way I once did.

Two weeks of 100+, 3 days in upper 90's (a cold spell!!), back to 100+ for the next week. One small rain in last month! We are looking forward to October! Stay cool everyone!

I remember when you were talking about moving. My sister is going through same. Her garage is full of boxes. Sounds like sorting through stuff is a good plan!💜

All the animals are panting here too. I feel so sorry for them! We are also going through things to donate, sell, trash.

Thanks Navywife, MisChelle, Texasgranny, Diana and Morticia - I may give up on going through the boxes. Last year when I packed them up I remember taking about a half dozen car loads of stuff to the thrift store so most of what is left is stuff I want to keep. Yesterday the heat wasn't so bad, but the smoke from the big fire near Yosemite was bad. And Yosemite is not even near where I live. Smoke is bad this morning as well. My neighbor told me she has water out for the wildlife as well as me. A big bucket for the deer and a smaller container for the little squirrels, skunks, etc.

Sounds like you are pretty much done with the boxes. Hot and smoke too? Goodness! You take such great care of the critters!:)
