Hipaagrammy's Journal, 12 Aug 14

I had planned to enjoy a mini-marathon of Lark Rise to Candleford last night while GoodMan and the grands were out of the house, but spent the time catching up on the phone with one of my sisters. Her daughter, my niece, is seven months pregnant and went to the ER two weeks ago with what she thought were minor symptoms. They almost dismissed her but decided at the last minute to do an MRI and they found a 4cm brain tumor.
My sister was able to debrief a little with me. I've so wanted to drive the 3 hours to be at her side, but having gone through enough family traumas of my own I know enough to make sure she's aware I'm available whenever she needs me, but stay out of their way until things settle down somewhat. Things have settled down for them at the moment - the doctors are doing weekly MRI's to make sure the tumor doesn't spread and are going to try to get the baby to 34 weeks before doing a c-section, then removing the tumor. They don't know if it is malignant because they say it is too risky for the baby for them to do a biopsy at this time.
If you are a pray-er, please pray for my niece Jillian, and her unborn baby boy. Jill's whole family could use your prayers - her husband, 2 year-old daughter, as well as her parents and sister. Jill is very strong and has asked the rest of us to "man-up" and help her fight this thing!
