Hi Kenna, good evening. You mentioned that you liked Gregorian hymn based music. Here is a motet I thought I wanted to share. It’s by Palestrina, Renaissance rather than the medieval, but its purity always strikes me when I’m emotionally and physically tired. You’ve worked very hard as a nurse for many years, and I’d like to express my appreciation by sharing this motet with you. It’s only 2 minute long. Thank you for everything you did. Yfritz— on the same YouTube page was the Indian sitar artist, Anoushka Shankar, daughter of a well known musical artist named Ravi Shankar. Her mother is also a musician and her sister is Nora Jones . Nora is actually Raviks stepdaughter. I have listened to Ravi since my hippie days when Ravi was a kind of musical guru to the Beatles. I think I still have many of his albums. I came to be able to call him friend many years later when he was a guest in my hospital before he died.

I like Anoushka and Ravi’s performance too, especially Anoushka. Thank you for sharing your encounter with Ravi. I’m not so certain if my musical background is something to be envied… music tends to foster solitude, especially if you allow it to consume you as much as I do. It’s not a happy life. Why does good music stir us so profoundly? I don’t know, but I think it’s because it awakens our innermost longings. Longings that would never be fulfilled. Life is sad, isn’t it?
