I had to hang around a hospital today at lunchtime and the closest restaurant was a Black Bear. They have good food but EXTREMELY calorie dense, but that isn’t my problem today. I had had breakfast very, very early. So I had one sweet cream waffle and some syrup. It tasted terrific and filled that hole in my stomach. However, it was about 150 gm. Carbs and probably 1000 calories, maybe more. I just used a sweet cream entry from FS. . But ate it and you just move on. One meal, one day. Just make slight menu modifications the rest of the day— but no meal skipping for me.

Sorry that the hospital didn't have a cafeteria. Bad enough to be there. Hope everything is okay with you. Stay strong and safe out there.

Sister has been in and out of the hospital twice in 10 days.. sometimes I just eat what is handy depending on time of day. I’m pretty good at following portion control regardless 0f what I’m eating. The waffle was good. The menus said about 1100 cal for one. So I just counted 1.5 for a waffle of the same name on FS

Hope your sis will be ok. Your approach to eating is a good one! I think that's great to modify the rest of the day if you can without being too extreme in cutting cals. If you can't then just move on as though it never happened and get back on track. That works quite well for me too! So much better than the 'all or nothing thinking I used to have when I'd eat anything and everything because I blew it. Thats just a guaranteed recipe for failure!

Supermarkets are a good choice too. I don't like to starve either. Take care and prayers for you, your loved ones, and everyone on FS...Amen

I’m not on a diet actually. I just maintain my normal weight by monitoring my intake which helps me stay on track. I’m a portion control, moderation person. When something like this comes up it really doesn’t impact my long term maintenance. The waffle was excellent, hit the spot and if I gain a pound today it is not a big deal, I just continue to eat as I always do. Healthier choices most of the time and less healthy or less conducive to long term goals success just once in a while.

Sister is very ill and has been her entire 75 years. Weird stuff that no one can give a diagnosis to — it is about symptom management. Unfortunately she also has diabesity which is actually what is going to be her final downfall and the one thing I cannot help with or control.

I do same. If I eat breakfast out, I eat what I want. I feel like I can splurge once in awhile as I do pretty good most days.Like you said, it's one day...💜
