Journal #2
Dilemma Alert!! After a terrifying meeting with financial aid I have concluded that there is no way humanly possible that I can afford to go to school full time. I was hoping there would be enough available in loans to kind of coast us through the year without my added income... I was wrong. I'm married now, so they're not offering me nearly as much as the last time I was in school. Crap. So the only available part time slots are evening. 2-3 days a week, 5-9pm. I called the secretary to see if she can change me before that fills up. Got her voicemail and left a message. I'm not going to be able to breathe easily until this is all straightened out.
On the upside I won't have to worry about daycare for the kiddos, and I will be able to get them off to school and home from school every day. That's a big plus in my book. Down side is it's going to take me two years, but there is no way around that.
Just thought I'd let you all in on my panic attack of the day lol.
I'm going to head to the gym for a quick workout.
Have a great day guys!

You know they say everything happens for a reason. I am not sure what it could be, and I am sure that sounds really stupid at the moment, but maybe something really great will come out of it. I am sorry about the news, hope you have a good workout, and try to breathe.

Working AND going to school can be a lot - but it sounds like it might work better for your schedule with the kids. And 2 years is really not that long in the grand scheme of things. Especially when it comes to education. Work out your panic at the gym! But I am sure in the long run it will all be ok. :)

Well the lack of full time financial aid sux. But I really do see a lot of upsides to this. Doing it in one year would mean a lot of other things would get sacrificed - kiddo time, gym time, sanity time ;-) Part time gives you a lot more flexibility in your life. You never really know when you're going to need it!

No need to panic. Two years will fly by. Just stick with it. So what if it takes you an extra year to finish your dream. All we have is time anyway really.

Where there is a will there's a way, even if it isn't easy. I know of several people who juggled job/family/school but stuck with it to the end. You can do it also. :)

Sorry to hear that school might not go as you planned...so roll with it and make a new plan to accomplish that goal. You seem to do well with "rolling with the punches".

Thank you everyone! Im a firm believer that life takes us in the directions were meant to go, so we will see what the future has in store. More time to focus on weight loss lol. I will breathe easy once my seat in part time is reserved, it does fill up quickly.

You can do it!! It may take a little longer for the dream to become reality, but it will just be that much better when you get there. Maybe it will be better this way anyway. Can you get a workstudy job at the school? If you're not planning on working, sometimes those jobs are helpful and could help with the cost of some of your school. Good luck!!

At least you are young! If I tried that I am already 51....Two years will FLY by in a blink of your eyes. PS: there are loans that the schools don't offer...so if the part time doesn't work start looking into those. You will have to work hard when you get out to pay for them...but it might be worth it. Just an FYI.
