What is the value of today?

I was thinking about what I would do if I knew that today was my last day on earth, how important this day would be for me and the value I would give it. What would I do differently?

But then what would make that day any more valuable than just a "regular" day? Only the fact that I would know it's my last would make it any different, inherently it's as valuable as any other day. Unless I was at the end of a terminal condition or in some kind of dire circumstance I'm not likely to know my last day anyway.

The cost of today is that it's a day out of my life I can't get back. That makes it pretty important, pretty valuable. Best then to approach each day as if it could be my last and treat it with that kind of value, because today is the only day I've really got.
