Johanne's Journal, 31 May 21

My first month back on track, I stayed under 1500 calories monthly average. I logged every single day. That’s the first time in years. I’m doing a combination CICO and IF. I restarted my physical therapy exercise regime this morning. I had let it go for months and am becoming truly crippled. I’m not losing weight on this many calories but seem to be conquering my hunger. This month I’ll aim for under 1400 calories average and see if anything budges. If not, I’ll drop to under 1300 calories in July. I won’t go under 1200, even if I still don’t lose weight. I simply can’t get enough nutrition on that few calories. I turn 77 on the 13th of June. I would like to lose enough weight to move with more ease.

Before deceasing calories in, try eating less carbs, but increase protein & low carb veggies.

I might agree with LambiePi - I increased the protein and healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts) and lowered my carbs to 100 grams a day. Started to lose with that.

I can’t go higher protein. I have to try to stay under 20%. I have borderline kidney failure. Believe me. I know it would be so much easier. 🙂

🤔 that doesn’t make it easy. Did they recommend an eating plan? If not, how about eating less carbs & more low carb veggies?

From a physical therapist, way to get back into your home exercises!!! I'm happy for you! stick with it!! 😊

LambiePi, I normally eat a minimum of 8 servings of low carb veggies (like frozen California blend), two of berries, and usually freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice or tart cherry concentrate with no sugar added. This past month though, with the calories drop, I’ve been craving grain products, nut butters and honey. I’m slacking off on those now as I drop another calorie notch but, when you’re eating low protein, you get so hungry without those starches! 😕

And no, they’ve not given me an eating plan. When they first diagnosed me as prediabetic, 11 years ago, they told me to do South beach or Atkins. A few months later, they diagnosed me with borderline kidney failure and told me to restrict my protein. In other words, they left me with almost nothing to eat. I devised my own diet of whole grain/whole food/balanced eating. I’ve kept of 40 of the original 70 lbs I lost around 11 years ago and I have been out of the diabetic range for 10 of those years. Now I just want to lose the other 100 lbs. 😁

Thanks Hebrews! I’m still around after all these years. I really do credit fat secret with my not gaining back all 70 lbs, +20, which is what used to happen when I lost weight. That’s how I got to my highest weight in the first place! 😂
