Kenna Morton's Journal, 09 May 21

The BF knows I like chocolate donuts with chocolate frosting so every little Holliday he comes here bearing gifts of 2 of them. I have told him that although appreciated, I would rather he didn’t do that. So when he left to run to the store this AM I took a bite of one and the rest went down the disposal. I’ll do the same tomorrow. Kind man. On another note he came home from said store with a new drink product— just sparkling water and pure lime. It is good, I was really surprised. Something to take to a get together where you know the the things being served are not on your preferred drink list either because of the alcohol or the sugar.

Ah yes. The obligatory eating examples of food as gifts. WTG for having a bite and saying good bye. I really like your style Kenna

Flowers and plants are better than food. Though I'm not sure I would ever discourage anyone from bringing a bottle of wine 😉🍇🍷

JustBananas— I don’t drink alcohol. I decided many years ago that I would rather eat my calories than drink them. I have a great nonalcoholic beer that, to me, tastes like the real deal.— Coors non- alcoholic. I also just found two non- alcoholic wines that are very good, but the calories are still there. I just stick to water, tea and now this new SPINDRIFT. I just bought some on sale at TARGET yesterday and bought a few. Cranberry/raspberry, blackberry and a pomegranate. I don’t drink diet sodas, they are soooo not good for you.

When I was in my 20's I had a diet Pepsi addiction: 4 liters a day, on top of the morning coffee! No calories, but soooo awful for the kidneys! I gave it up and now just have black coffee and herbal teas. Never was a juice or smoothie drinker, as I agree about the drinking calories thing. Though a glass or two of a wonderful wine with dinner on occasion is my exception to the rule. Since starting this diet almost a year ago, I can count on 1 hand the number of drinks I've consumed. They're more maintenance calories than diet, and I've got another 15 pounds to drop first. But when that happens, it is still about the calorie bank; I would rather have a couple of glasses of wine than a dessert any day (just personal preference).

Absolutely a great formula. Healthier eating most of the time and less so once in a while. Delicious food and sharing social occasion with friends and family is important. You just can’t do it every day.
